Our rehearsal dinner is in the works. For a time I had worried about possibly having to share our rehearsal date with the 3 o’ clock bride, because we’ll both need to rehearse, right? I didn’t want her to get gypped, nor did I want US to get gypped. Then my MOH/FSIL told us that we should have our rehearsal/dinner on Thursday, instead. Her point was, “When you’re having such an early ceremony (9:30 am), you don’t want to worry about people staying out too late or drinking too much the night before.”
Thus, a Thursday rehearsal has been arranged (pending Mr. Kiwi’s participation in a meeting with the parish secretary today). Last night we took Mr. Kiwi’s mom out to dinner, and she liked the place so much, she wants us to have our rehearsal dinner there (she is arranging it)! The place we are thinking of is called C & O Cucina in Marina Del Rey. Known for their “Killer Garlic Rolls”, they have huge portions of italian food with not so huge prices, and the atmosphere is great.
Here’s a pic of the garlic rolls (drool…):

The private room holds up to 90 people, and can be reserved way ahead of time. There are packages for a catered party, ranging from $13.95 to $29.95 per person, and the most expensive package including glasses of wine or beer. For unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, it is an additional $2.95 per person, with alcoholic beverages are also available at menu prices.
I think my favorite package is the $19.95 one, with two appetizers (the stuffed mushrooms are filled with heaven), grilled chicken breast, two pasta choices and choice of Caesar or mixed green salad with killer garlic rolls. There is also a dessert option, for another three dollars per person, with tiramisu or tartufo.
Here is a (small, sorry) picture of the room. While it looks crowded, it’s not that way in real life.
Mr. Kiwi’s mom will be sending out invites as soon as we get our guest list done. I’ve never been to a rehearsal dinner before, so I don’t know exactly who to invite. I know immediate family is invited, and those participating in the wedding, but who else? For instance, my second cousin Maggie will be flower girl. Obviously I invite her mom and dad (my cousins), but do I also invite my aunt and uncle? And if I invite them, do I invite the rest of my cousins from that family (another five plus twin infants)?
So, I may have the guest list for the rehearsal dinner to worry over, but I am really happy to have this done. I ¢â„¢¥ C & O, and having this step be (almost) done, makes me feel so much better.
