Groomsmen Gifts

April 4th, 2007 @ 5:46 pm by Mrs. Strawberry

Mr. Strawberry and I are having a dilemma of sorts in trying to pick groomsmen gifts. We had originally decided to get the guys custom bobble heads. We did a test run on one of the dolls and were less than pleased. They offered us a deal to redo it, but we are now a little wary in dropping so much money to do the 6 other dolls. So my conundrum is this. Do we continue down the bobble head path or go in a completely different direction? And by other direction, I was thinking this:

The beer of the month club! Nestled in das boot! (From the Beerfest movie)

Would you do the beer for a whole year or something shorter like 6 months? It’s a neat idea for guys if they like beer (I know my FH would love this) but I don’t know if my wallet could handle a year per guy!

Oh my goodness! My FI and his friends are a little religious when it comes to Beerfest! That boot is the best thing I have ever seen! Where on earth did you find it??? I would be the coolest wife-to-be if I could find them boots to drink from! haha

FANTASTIC idea! you can get as many months-worth as you want… maybe 2-3 months depending on how many guys there are.

i think you should do beer of the month over the bobbleheads, assuming no teetotalers or reformed alcoholics. that is a really nice gift!

I am a fan of getting things people can either use or eat/drink. Def. get the beer over the bobbleheads.

We’re getting the guys the Reef flip-flops that have a bottle opener in the bottom, I think. Beer of the month sounds FUN!

why were you less than pleased with the bobbleheads, if you don’t mind me asking. we’re currently planning on doing this…
thanks!

The doll didn’t look like him. In part it was our fault, in part theirs, I think. I gave them a pic with sunglasses on. Mirrored aviator glasses. And he had a sneer on his face. The doll came back and the glasses were black and the sneer very faint. We are going to do it again with a normal pic. I’m thinking without the sunglasses (that were the wrong color) it will look more like him. :)

Maybe engrave a mug/stein for each groomsman with his initials.

My FI and I are doing steak brands in each GM’s initials for our gifts. Very unique, and I can GUARANTEE no one has these!

i would love a beer of the month club as a gift too! i love monthly clubs - the gift that keeps on giving. :)

no offense but if i received a bobblehead of myself i would think of it as clutter and it would end up in the closet. my guy’s friends would love the beer thing though!

i think the beer of the month club sounds more appealing than bobbleheads. beer leads to great fun. bobbleheads..not so much u can do with it. a pretty useless gift, in my opinion.

I think the guys will definitely enjoy the beer of the month club more than a bobble head. If you want to give them a gift they will appreciate, forget about the bobble heads.

We got the guys coolers from LL Bean. FH is putting a 6 pack in it with a nice cigar.

We though it was important to get them something they could use and enjoy.

Miss Strawberry - I just got a custom bobblehead as a gift for my brother and was similarly disappointed. I was so excited to give him this gift, which I know he’d love, but the thing looks nothing like him!

I also did the bobbleheads for our 3 groomsmen. It took months and several redos but I was very happy in the end. If you have plenty of time, are persistant, and insist on getting what you paid for (and what they advertise), I think you will be very happy with the final product!!

My friend just ordered beer boots for the whole wedding party!! She got them from Hotel Ruby Marie in Wisconsin and they were $39 for the 1 liter and $45 for the 2 liter (the 1 liters seemed really small, so I’d splurge for the 2 liters) My friend did some glass etching on them with the people’s names and they look great!!! Shipping is the most expensive part, so if you know anyone with a corporate UPS account (that you can reimburse) or something it saves a LOT!

Can anyone point me to a good place for beer mugs?

I wish someone would buy me the beer!

Billy says:

I got the idea from this page and ended up getting mine from http://www.bierbothaus.com They took care of the etching and shipping. It was perfect because I didn’t have the time to find an etcher etc. and the whole wedding party loved the boots!

I got our entire wedding party the beer boots from http://www.BeerFestBoots.com . I shopped around for a bit and it was the least expensive of the quality ones. they also did the custom engraving. Everyone loves these things!
