About Mrs. Blueberry

6 Things

April 5th, 2007 @ 2:20 pm by Mrs. Blueberry

1. I was in gifted ed. in school, from 1st grade until they stopped the program in 8th grade. One year I did an independent study project on Laura Ingalls Wilder, for which my mom *made* me a pioneer dress, as well as one for my American Girl knock-off doll. smiley501

2. I eat my pizza without cheese. I <3 cheese, don’t get me wrong, just not on pizza.

3. I keep all my recipes handwritten on 3 1/2 x 5 cards in the kitchen window. And anybody can look at them and copy the recipes, but they’ll never get it quite right… because all my recipes involve secret ingredients or amounts of listed ingredients, which only I know (and I’ll never tell!). smiley4

4. I can drive a stick-shift and seem to be one of 12 girls in the entire world who can (my FMIL is another!). I don’t think I ever want to own a car that’s got an automatic transmission!

5. I am a complete dunce on financial matters. I never overdraw my account or anything, but if you talk about anything more complex than a checking or savings account, and I get utterly befuddled… CDs, mutual funds, mortgages, futures… I understand none of it.

6. On October 22, 1996, I was on a bike ride with my dad and I fell and scraped up the right side of my face *really* badly. He gave me some Tylenol from his first aid kit, and that night I had blue jello and beef stew for dinner. Because of the tylenol, I threw up blue beef stew. And I still think about that, every October 22. TMI? smiley4

Laura says:

I must be the third girl on the planet that can drive a stick-shift. I’m just amazed that the number of folks who can’t drive one!

2.
Josie says:

I so prefer a stick over an automatic!!! The hubby can’t drive one though. Sucks for him cuz we’re planning on getting a new 07 Mustang and it WILL be a stick. Guess I’ll just have to do all the driving… ;)

3.
Katie says:

Funny that you are now Miss Blueberry.. Can we call you Miss BlueBeefStew?

Yeah I admire your stick wielding power. It is a lost art on me.

4.
oojoy says:

I can drive stick, too! :-) A good amount of my girl friends can, too, though. I think it’s mostly because all our men drive manual cars.

5.
e says:

i know tons of girls who can drive stick-shifts! you must live in a stick-shift segregated area. ;)

6.
kristine says:

A lot of girls here in Cali drive stick! unfortunately, i’m not one of them hehe.

7.
Rebecca says:

Another stick driver checkin’ in, and you can add my mom and my sister to that list …

8.
Amy says:

I know girls that drive stick-shifts as well. Even my mom can drive one - ha.

9.
BA says:

I also drive a stick shift- my parents made me learn before I could get my license! My fiance can’t though, and it’s one of those things we need to teach him before we get married!

10.
Pencils says:

I drive stick, and don’t ever want to drive anything else. My fiance and I recently bought a new car (Suzuki SX4, love it!), and it’s becoming harder and harder to buy one with a stick.

Miss tulip says:

My parents made me learn to drive a stick shift before I got my license as well. So I can drive a stick badly. I get really nervous about it, but I’m the only one of all my friends who can, and it makes me feel powerful. My FI can’t drive one though…

gji7 says:

I guess this will prove that I live in the country…I would rather count the number of women I know that can’t drive a stick. I think it is 4 or 5.

susan says:

Ditto on the stick shift - I can too. :) I had to learn because my brother was giving me his car and it was a stick. I’d rather not drive anything else, but I want a hybrid, and those only come in automatic. :(

Julie says:

I’m just like you on #1. I did gifted ed and I was obsessed with Laura Ingalls Wilder. I dressed up as her for Halloween even. Since I’m also a Missourian I made a trip to Mansfield when I was 10 and it was AMAZING. I want to visit all of her homes one day just to have a weird trivia fact.

Tea says:

i’ve driven stick only twice, once in a parking lot on a surprisingly non snowy winters day and the other on a quiet unused road…i did pretty good both times but haven’t driven one since. i want to learn because i dream of having a sports car and you can’t drive a sports car with an automatic transmission.

my mom knows how to drive a stick though except she drives an automatic now.

Kel says:

One more stick shift driver here! Along with my mom and all my sisters. My parents made us learn to drive on stick shifts so that we could always know how. Like riding a bike!

Mrs. Bee says:

pizza without cheese?! i love extra cheese! :)

Christina says:

I can drive a stick shift too. I actually learned when I was 15 and visiting family in the Philippines. It makes me feel bad ass to tell people I learned to drive there =)

You can also just...
