Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!
About Mrs. Kiwi

Pews, Too

April 5th, 2007 @ 8:26 am by Mrs. Kiwi

Looks like getting married in the Church Mr. Kiwi works for is paying off. Yesterday he spoke to a parent of one of his volleyball players, it turns out she decorates the church for all holidays, and wants to decorate it for our wedding! Mr. Kiwi just asked her what kinds of things we should have for the actual wedding, and she said, “Just tell me what Miss Kiwi visualizes for the wedding and we’ll get it done!” Gotta love those parents, huh?

Now I’m on the search for pew decoration ideas. I’d rather not use flowers, since I think I may just get one arrangement for the altar.

I put a search out for “pew decorations for a wedding”, and it led me to Kremp Wedding Gallery.

I love the way this looks:

Another option is a plain ribbon, although I don’t want it to look crappy.

Like this, it just looks like an afterthought. I think bows can look awesome, but this one just looks half-assed.

Here’s a plain bow with some greenery.

For those of you wanting flowery pew decorations, or just a nice floral touch, these ones are stunning!

One idea I was kinda thinking about was this, a picture I found in a knot bio (don’t remember which, sorry!!), only I’d want no petals in the tulle draped across the pews.

What kind of aisle/pew decorations are you thinking of using?

We used pew buckets filled with flowers, alternating with bows.

We just saved old cans, spray painted them, covered them with lace, cut holes in them for ribbon and filled with flowers. It’s a really easy DIY.

Here is a picture (scroll down) if anyone is interested:

Miss Kiwi- No christmas bows! haha. I love the cute flower ones. Altho I guess it depends on your budget… could get a bit pricey I think.

Jen- Your pew decor is gorgeous!!

we are being minimal w/ the church decor b/c of our budget. but the church supplies a few tall candlelabras (no idea the official name) that stand at the foot of the altar, and they also have ones that hang every 5 pews. should be very romantic.

i was going to do nothing but my church wasn’t the most pretty inside so at the last minute i ordered the largest size of white satin pull-bow from papermart, and spools of wide white tulle. i ended up with poufy white bows… the tulle really added to it! just an idea if people don’t want to spend the money to use florals (so expensive!!).

I hope these are just illustrative photos…. I’d like to see my guests climbing over the draped ribbon/garland/tulle to get into their seats!

We had aisle candles (poles with candles and globes on top) and we twirled tulle and ivy down the wooden poles. It may sound strange, but it looked great in our very woody church!

Since we are getting married outside, there isn’t much we need to do for decor! i’m not placing anything on the aisle chairs, but we will have our florist plant 100 white tulips into the ground in those small vase vials. The will go the length of the aisle and look like they’ve been planted and sprouted just for us! At the very end of the aisle are two large green lanterns that will have white candles in them. I’m debating using the “aisle runner” (10 yard length of muslin) that I bought because I like the minimalist look.

Iris, the ribbon/tulle/flowers are all draped in the inside of the row, blocking off the aisle, because the bride is supposed to be the only person who walks down it. The guest are supposed to enter from the other side. That’s why the flowers etc. are blocking off the inside aisle.

We had lanterns hanging from our pews. They looked so pretty… if I do say so myself. :)

There are some pics and a slideshow on our photographer’s blog: http://www.kristinspencer.com/blog/C586723384/E20070309140446/index.html

HAC - Can you tell me where you got the groom’s tie? It’s exactly right for our wedding and I’ve been looking all over.
