In Style’s Best Beauty Buys 2007

April 7th, 2007 @ 11:42 pm by Mrs. Bee

In Style Magazine has just come out with their 12th Annual Best Beauty Buys issue, and the entire list is available online. Although it’s pretty similar year to year, I always get excited when I receive this issue in the mail. If you’re looking for suggestions for some of the best beauty products and tools around, this is a great place to start.

companies pay to get on the list. the more they pay- the higher they are on the list

really christine? that’s sorta sad. i wondered if the editors actually used the products and then rated it. now i’ll think twice before i copy down the product and go buy it

I love this issue each year and I did purchase few items listed on the issue and i must say that their cheap, great foundation rec. - CoverGirl Age Defining Foundation - is worth every penny! I cant believe that a cheap $10 foundation (let alone CoverGirl) can indeed make a good foundation since I do have a sensitive, breakout prone skin and I love it! I’ll be using it for a wedding I am in this coming Saturday and the coverage and lasting power is awesome! ;o)

i don’t know if that’s true since a lot of the products on this list show up on other best lists (not necessarily in magazines, but websites and user reviews). i’ve tried a decent number of the products on the list, and have been really satisfied with them.

for instance they featured mac’s eyebrow pencil last year so i bought it and i absolutely love it. lingering is the color, and it’s flattering to so many people! :)

not sure with the “best” list…sometimes those are reader submitted? but a lot of times the products they review/push in thier usual issues is because the company is paying them to push it. I found this the hard way when i subscribed to allure, glamour, and lucky and they all had the same clothes, tips, and products for the same monthly issue…probably b/c they’re all under the same publishing issue.

i knew anthelios sx would show up on the list. it’s supposedly the BEST sunscreen available in the us. i remember mentioning it mrs. bee’s sunscreen post.

I’ve always wanted to try Georgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation ’cause I’ve seen a lot of people rave about it. Ever tried it, Bee? :) Is it shiny or glittery? That would be what might make me hesitate to buy it.

i have tried it and i like it a lot. but right now i’m using prescriptives flawless skin, and i actually like it better.

armani’s is pretty matte - not shiny or glittery at all. texture is really smooth and goes on great.

Hrmmm. Maybe I’ll have to try the Prescriptives. I was planning to use Vincent Longo’s Water Canvas on my wedding day but it’s prettttty sheer. Would you recommend the Prescriptives as a “wedding finish” foundation?

Mrs. Bee says:

yah definitely. i’m actually looking for something with lighter coverage, because i’m really a fan of tinted moisturizers. my friend, a makeup artist, loves that prescriptives one too!

Miss Plumeria says:

Oo I forgot to check back on this post til now — k, I’ll have to go to the mall sometime and try the Prescriptives. I don’t like a lot of coverage either, but I want our photos to look good. I think in the bridal portrait shoot my makeup could have been heavier — I put it on in about five minutes as we were running late… so on the day of I’m thinking more eye makeup, darker lipstick, eh, a little more everything.. and I just may go the individual fake eyelash route, we’ll see. If you have time, go to Sephora and try the Vincent Longo! It has a great texture and is nice and light — just enough coverage to even out. Only downside is that it’s pricey and you have to be careful that you close it tightly, or it can dry out. But I love the feel of it!
