How I Convinced My Bridesmaids

April 9th, 2007 @ 4:44 pm by Mrs. Lime

hat* my color scheme will work. We watched Marie Antoinette together during a girls’ night in about a month ago. When Kirsten Dunst came out in this dress (although not the exact shades I’m using), they were slightly less irked at me for making them wear soft aqua silk dresses and carry red bouquets. I’m kidding about the irked part, they’re all really supportive and enthusiastic, but I think the two local bridesmaids weren’t totally convinced. The blue is a little more saturated in the movie than in this still, and my blue is a lot more aqua, but it gave them a good idea since I am a lazy bride who is not doing newsletters to give them information on all the details I agonize over but they don’t care too much about.

hmmm…is that aqua? to me, the dress in the picture looks more like a celadon green or gray green.

thanks, kp.

nc, nope, not aqua. it’s definitely blue if you watch the movie, but more of a powder blue, pale gray-blue, or duchess blue. it helped them really get it for the first time, though.

I love your color combo! Tell them they’ll look so much cuter than Kirsten Dunst! I think it will look great! ;)

Maybe I should watch the movie to be more inspired too… I am hoping to use pale blue or Baby blue and red as my colors too. :-)

Aqua and red look great together! I’ve seen the colors featured together in at least one or two magazines… I never would have thought to put them together! They’re beautiful together! :)

I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoy your *sponsored* letters that kick off your posts. They are so creative and fun to look at before I get into the *meat* of your post!

i just wanted to pipe in and say i LOVE your color scheme as well…..it was my original choice and i still regret changing to aqua/brown. red is so much more vibant and unexpected…..and if all other arguments fail you, martha is alos a big fan of the combo and who can argue with martha??

I saw that exact scheme in an earlier Martha Steward wedding mag.

I’m doing red and aquamarine for my June wedding, and I LOVE it! My maids are wearing red with aquamarine sashes, and my MOH/Flowergirl are wearing aquamarine with red sashes.

It’s getting to be a popular combo — I’ve seen it at the mall, and papersource has several pool/red selections.

I love it, just tell them you’re fresh, hip, and modern ;-)

Your color scheme is going to rock! it’s a risky one that requires just the right shades and balance, but you have an eye for it and i know everything’s going to look awesome. =o)

When I announced my color scheme, people weren’t so sure either. Even Miss Ladybug and other readers thought it didn’t look so good. But I was confident I could make it work and I totally loved how it ended up looking! So don’t let the nay-sayers get you down…
