Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Til There Was You

April 10th, 2007 @ 8:31 am by Mrs. Kiwi

The other day I was watching The Wedding Singer, and it came to the part where Rosie (Ellen Dow) sings “Til There Was You” to her husband - the song she has been practicing with Robbie (Adam Sandler) for months. It really is such a sweet song, right?

I was even considering using it for a dance in our wedding, as I found myself humming the tune a lot. The song was not to be though - as I hummed it one day, my dad mentioned how much he loves it.

Why? Oh, just the little fact of it being “their” song. His FIRST wife’s song. And yes, my parents aren’t together anymore, but I think there would be some bad feelings should that song be played. Shame.

Have you wanted something that you technically could have had, but didn’t feel right about it?

Well I really like the Allison Kraus song “When You Say Nothing at All” but it was my fiancee’s song with his EX. That makes me like it a lot less.

We had a song called The Beginning picked for our first dance…then a co-worker of my fiancee’ called it a “Luke and Laura” song. From that moment it was ruined for me.

Til There was You was one of our readings during our ceremony… I love it too! I’m sorry you can’t use it.

Hmm… we didn’t even consider a few venues because I had attended weddings there and wanted something “all to ourselves”… you know, because the thousands of strangers who also get married there don’t really count because I don’t know them. :o)

I love the Wedding Singer so much that I decided there has to be a song from it in our wedding. I ended up choosing “That’s All” (performed by Mel Torme) which is sung by Adam Sandler in the movie, I think at the Bar Mitzvah…so sweet!

“Orange Colored Sky” by Nat King Cole - I’ve always loved this song, but my best friend and MOH mentioned many times around her wedding a few years ago that it was her and her husband’s song… So I wouldn’t feel right using it. Eh, there are plenty of others.

“At Last.” Not only have FI’s cousins used it, but Xtina Aguilera, and it seems every other person on the planet…

at one wedding we shot… the groom sang ” i want to grow old with you” & gave a remote control to her when he sang “i’ll even let you hold the remote control” too cute…
