Bridal Bouquet: Idea Stage

April 13th, 2007 @ 1:25 pm by Mrs. Plum

Last week, I fully intended on ordering flowers from my usual supplier for my upcoming bridal portrait bouquet. I had already decided on getting all lily of the valley mixed with some greens and other creams (inspired by the cover of my wedding planner):

However, after I thought it through, it ended up being WAY too expensive, even with the wholesale price and the fact that I was doing it myself. Also, I am not quite sure it would look good with my dress, as it is rather poofy and elaborate.

After some thinking and looking through my millions of wedding inspiration pictures on my computer, I decided to go with a parrot tulip bouquet with green viburnum, but in all creams and greens-a variation on a bouquet that I have loved for several months:

Unfortunately for me, my supplier ran out/did not have any of the parrot tulips I so desperately wanted, so I did the next best thing - Googled a supplier that had these coveted cream and green parrot tulips (weber tulips).

That is how I came across Flowerbud.com, where I ordered my parrot tulips from.

I am hoping that when they open, they’ll look more like the Martha Stewart Flowers picture here:

Did I mention how much I LOVE Martha - she is so freakin creative and is the BEST at styling… (that’s probably why her picture is more aesthetically pleasing than the grower’s picture).

I also went ahead and ordered two bunches of green viburnum from my usual supplier just in case I need to supplement the bouquet and/or if I decide I want it to be more like the original orangey flower bouquet I loved.

Sooo… my flowers are on the FedEx truck right now and about to be delivered on my doorstep! I’m so excited… I’ll post more about my bouquet, flowers, and give a review of the companies I used after my bridal portrait on Monday! happy01

very pretty! i think you made the right decision going with the parrot tulips over the lily of the valley bouquet. i think the parrot tulips go better with your bird/frenchy theme :)

Lilies of the valley ARE very pricey through florists. For those that have their hearts set on them, though, they are also very easy to grow. Plant a bunch (or have a green-thumbed friend or relative plant them), so you have lots to choose from. Of course, this only works if you are having your wedding during a season the LOTV bloom in your area!

I live in Dallas-can you pass along the name/number of your “usual” floral supplier? I do a lot of events where I need flowers. Thanks!!

i used http://www.growingtulips.com for my wedding. I used mostly parrot tulips, but also got some regular cream tulips…

They we absoutley stunning flowers and would recommend using them over any other….they have a large selection….but to get the wholesale price you have to order more than 500….other wise you pay retail which is about 80$$ for 50 stems.
