Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

‘Cause I’m Cool Like That

April 13th, 2007 @ 4:20 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

Loyal Weddingbee readers, I have a confession. I have two veils. And I wear one at home. All the time. I’d post a picture but I happened to be wearing my Threadless shirt called “She Doesn’t Even Know” in the pictures and I don’t think it was the best message to send. happy02 It’s a cute shirt, but added to a wedding veil, not exactly bridal.

Anyway, a while back I bought a two-tier ivory veil off of eBay. When it arrived, it was crushed and the comb was broken completely in half. Which wasn’t cool. The ivory seemed more of a diamond white, and I didn’t think it’d match anyway. When I complained about the broken comb, my money was refunded and I was allowed to keep the veil. Thanks to my cousin Karen, I have her veil to use, so I’m all set for the wedding.

A month ago I superglued the comb, and allowed the veil to hang so it shakes out the wrinkles. Now it’s okay looking, but still not what I wanted anyway. Now I wear it at home when I feel like getting bridal with it. blush I wash the dishes in it, try various hair styles with it… it’s really an all-purpose veil.

Has anyone else done this? Have a practice veil, or just two veils?

I also have two veils but I haven’t been wearing mine :). The first one I got was from my cousin and it is lovely with tiny jewels along the edges but then I saw another at Michael’s (of all places!) with satin ribbon along the edges. Since it was only about $30, I bought it too! My dress still isn’t here yet so I am still not sure which one I will use, I’ll wait to see which looks best.

Hehehehe I just want to draw a little veil onto the little guy on your shirt! How cute would that be? And not really that much more pathetic than you wearing it around! ;-) Sooo funny!!

I have two veils too, one given by FSIL and one that I mock-made (I’m still working on the style, I don’t know yet)… but I don’t wear it around the house… my niece plays with the one from FSIL when she comes over, it’s cute… instead, I wear my wedding rings around haha…

But you just reminded me of that Friends episode where the girls got all gussied up in bridal gowns — funny!

I wear my tiara around the house when I want to be bridal. Not the veil, though, I only got that a week ago and I’m afraid Agatha the cat will shred it. A tiara is great for when you’re telling your fiance to take out the trash or do the laundry. I’m going to wear it for years…

I don’t wear my veil… because I have yet to purchase one. I need to get moving as my day is 9/1/2007…
However I have been known to try on my wedding band sometimes. Ok… and the headpiece too.

lol. i would so do something like that. and then act all casual as if i wasn’t wearing a piece of tulle on my head. classic.

then again, i prance around in my birthday tiara [it spells out happy birthday and gets glitter all over my hair] all the time. i hope the bf still loves me when he finds all this stuff out when we move in together. lol

Miss Kiwi, you are so much fun! Now I WISH that I had two veils! Maybe I could head to Michael’s…

Me, me, me!!! From the first time I tried on dresses, I never quite felt like a bride until I put on a veil - I love my veil more than my dress. I ordered a veil for $.01 from e-bay and I wear it around the house a little (a lot) from time to time. It got me through finals last quarter…

“It’s an all-purpose veil.” Too funny! I have decided against a veil, but if I had one, I think after this post I would definitely buy a second to wear around our house!!

Ooh, me! The first veil that I purchased from an online store was the wrong shade. Since it wasn’t expensive, I decided not to return it, so sometimes I wear it around the house for fun.
