Ribbon Stores in NYC

April 15th, 2007 @ 1:45 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

I know Mrs. Bee posted about a couple of places earlier this week, but I had to include my two cents as my mom, sister and I were in the city on Tuesday in search of the perfect trim for a wedding I am working on. We had a fabulous time (as usual) and had lunch at ‘wichcraft - my favorite sandwich shop ever!

As Mrs. Bee mentioned, M&J Trim has just about everything one can imagine… unfortunately, they didn’t have what I needed. So we moved on to The Store Across the Street, and my mom and sister bought several pieces here, but still no luck for me.

Next was Tinsel Trading, which is the parent company of The Store Across the Street. I found several pieces here that I had to have, including some silk flowers.

But we still hadn’t found what I was looking for, so we headed over to Mokuba, which again, no luck, but I did find these gorgeous ribbons.

Then we went to Roth International (which is wholesale only, though they’ll sell to anyone provided they purchase a larger minimum-I think 10 yards) and I finally found what I was looking for:

My best piece of advice is if you’re looking for something specific, try and have a picture of something similar to what you’re looking for. Then literally walk up and down the streets in the Garment District and ask each store along the way if they have something similar. We were so surprised to find some of our favorite pieces at little hole in the wall shops that we had never even heard of.

Happy Shopping!

I bought the most beautiful vintage ribbon for my bouquet(s) at the Store Across the Street recently. It’s everything I love in ribbon, and it was in my color, navy: 3.5″ wide grosgain ribbon with picot edging and narrow satin shadow striping. I’ve never seen anything like it before. They only had four yards, though. I bought it all. I wasn’t really shopping for bouquet ribbon yet. I still need ribbon for my bridesmaids’ bouquets, ribbon for the little girls’ flower halos, narrow ribbon to bind the programs, and ribbon for the chuppah. The navy would have been great for that, but there’s just not enough and I want it for my bouquet!

Aaack! Now all I want to do is shop for ribbon! Those stores look yummy!

Is it crazy to want to take a trip into NYC just for ribbon-y goodness? Its only a few hours…

And Pencils, that ribbon sounds awesome! it would have been perfect for my bouquet too… I’m jealous!

Here’s an online source that I like as well:

It is not crazy to make a trip just for ribbons… I found exactly what I was looking for and it was so much fun to be on the hunt for it!
