Whew! My very very fun, but very very stressful weekend is OVER! Don’t get me wrong–I had a really great time!
So here are pics from my shower on Saturday!
(A million bajillion thanks to my amazing MOH Katie and her mom for hosting it!!!)
The super delicious food:

This shower was attended by my friends and my family, so the atmosphere was a lot more relaxed and fun. We didn’t get many posed pictures at all; they’re all candid. Yay!
Part of the presents, and my throne!

My littlest flower girl, with her Grandma (my Aunt Judy):

l-r: my Grandma, flower girl Kaitlyn (back of her head), flower girl Emily, flower girl Jenna, and Aunt Judy:

Kaitlyn helped me with my presents. She did that the whole time! I really didn’t have much of a part in the gift opening. It was pretty much: she’d set a box in my lap, she’d open it, I’d hold up the item, she’d whisk it away before anybody could see it.
So cute! It was great having a bridal shower helper. ![]()

Yeah, this is what I was talking about:

Kaitlyn’s shower gift to me was a giant tub of cookie cutters; I had to ask if this meant she wanted me to bake her cookies
(I’ve got a bit of a reputation as having a knack for it!):

From my mom: the covered vegetable dish of the Currier and Ives line. I’ve been collecting this stuff for *ages*, picking up a piece or two anytime I happen to run across it in an antique shop. The vegetable dish is very rare; I can’t believe Mom found one!!!

More of the guests. l-r: My cousin Susan (Kaitlyn’s mom), Mr. Blueberry’s mom Linda, my friend Mandi’s mom Lucie, MOH Katie’s mom Raeanne (standing), Linda’s friend Paula, and then Mandi waaay over there on the edge. Did I mention how jam-packed Katie’s living room was???

I just had to share this one of Olivia. Poor baby won’t have any dignity left by the time her mom’s done with her!
hehehe

OK I’m a total goon and didn’t get a picture of this next gift (hopefully Dad will get my message soon, and will email me a picture of it), but it was SO FREAKING COOL. This was one of those gifts that seriously just about made me cry–so much work and thoughtfulness! I bet you want to know what it is then, right? OK some backstory: Mandi and I have been friends since kindergarten. So that’s over 3/4th of our lives. Her mom is also one of the sweetest women ever, just lots of good stuff all around. For my shower, she and her mom gave me a cookbook they made. It’s full of all their (and my!) favorite recipes of the yummy foods we’ve shared over the years. Each one is printed on a different paper and put in a clear sleeve so I don’t have to worry about splotching them while cooking. The first recipe on the first page? Pumpkin bread! When Mandi and I were in high school she’d make it about once a week or so, and bring it to me for my immediate consumption.
Yeah, an amazing gift. ![]()

More of Kaitlyn’s help:

I cannot overstate how cute and fun she is!
Me and my friends. Not that you can see any of them too well, but that’s Mandi behind me, then Claire, then Katie, then Stefanie, and Sara’s the tiny blonde:

Little did I know that as I was opening each gift, Claire was writing down what I said. She then read them all back to us, saying, “These are things Katie will be saying on her wedding night!”

Yeah, I was just a bit embarrassed. ![]()
Emily and the other girls made little bows out of tissue paper to add to my bow bouquet:

And Olivia was fascinated with my long red hair (she plays with it every time I see her!):

I really enjoy getting to spend time with my girls!

They don’t know how lucky they are, to have cousins their own age, and living so close! Not that I mind having older cousins! When I was little, their moms (my 2nd cousins Julie and Susan) took me to fun places and bought me things and filled me up with sugar and sent me home. Just like I try to do with their daughters, today. ![]()
My beautified bow bouquet! Great work by the girls:

Thanks to Robyn, who took all these pictures! Now, what you *don’t* think about at a bridal shower: the aftermath!
And so many empty boxes!

Of course, you know I’m cheap and resourceful, so I divvied these up among Mr. Blueberry’s mom, Paula, my mom, Robyn, and myself, for reuse. ![]()
Now one wall of my bedroom in KC is full of gifts from the two showers.
And we took the opportunity to unwind that night, by watching Katie’s dad’s band play:

Now can you see why I’m tired?
Tomorrow I’ll post about the flowers and other projects of the weekend. ![]()
