About Mrs. Emerald

After all that videographer drama 2 weeks ago, we finally booked one! We met with 3 companies, viewed a ton of demo’s, and in the end, decided to go with REM Video Productions. Yes, it’s definitely more than we intended to spend, but we justified the cost for the sake of peace of mind. What made this company stand out over the rest was their editing work. We paid a little bit more to get owner of the company and head editor to personally edit our video (however, one of his associates will be filming). Nothing cheesy, none of that “Say Hi to the camera for me!” business. Their videos really appealed to me so we decided to take the plunge.

To help any of you Chicago brides who are interested in the cost of videography, this is what we are getting for $1880.

- 8 hours of coverage with a primary videographer plus an intern (if available, currently there is a good chance for us getting one)
- Editing by the owner of the company, with “special effects,” meaning cool transitions, black & white/sepia, music of our choice
- 3 highlight montages (these are my favorite parts to watch)
- 2 DVDs plus raw footage

The price included a slight discount because we are paying in cold, hard, $cash$. It’s interesting that some vendors will give you a discount for this, and others won’t. But I don’t think it hurts to ask (tactfully)! I’m sucha idiot. We had to put down a deposit of 50%, so we had all the cash ready and sitting in an envelope on my kitchen table. Then we drove 40 minutes to the videographer’s studio and realized… I forgot the envelope!! So it was a mad scramble to get the cash from various ATMs… Ugh, leave it to me to do something like that. blush01 Anywhoo, I’m just glad that the decision is made and done, and now we can move on!!

P.S. For anyone wondering, yes, I think we still plan on doing lighting and draping as well. This puts us about 5% over budget, which I think isn’t TOO bad…

I am very glad you found someone but please take the link off to the old thread? Why even reference it? Its causing too much traffic to my site again and Apple has once again shut it down for exceeding my monthly bandwith. Its causing a lot of problems with people not being able to see my samples. thanks for removing it quickly.
