Cheesy Poses Ahead!

April 18th, 2007 @ 9:31 am by Mrs. Plum

Don’t say I didn’t warn ya - we did this photo session with our family photographer friend in his studio because my mother really wanted a “traditional” portrait to display at the Vietnamese reception. These were snapped by my mother on her digital camera in between shots by the actual photographer (different photog from my wedding day/bridal portrait photog!), hence the weird angles and unflattering looks haha. We get our actual pictures in 2-3 weeks or so… I felt totally retarded doing these strange yoga poses and bending my neck/back at uncomfortable angles, but I guess they will look good. silly01

Also, I had my hair and makeup done around 10-12 hours before this session for my other bridal portrait, so I guess it stayed in place/on pretty well! More about the details later!

LOL, my parents insisted that we do that too despite the fact that me and my fiance felt it was totally cheesy and corny.

sorry, the only thing cheesier than the poses is that last backdrop. hehehe, it looks like something from the neighborhood photo studio we used to frequent in high school. ;-)

i do like the green and white ao dais.

Miss Plum says:

haha it’s okay Tea - I kept cracking up during the session bc the things he made us do were SO freakin cheesy and fobby!

I even said “honey look! apparently we’re in an ancient castle and/or frolicking in a field!” hahah

Miss GreenBean says:

OMG too funny. I may have to do these myself and I am not even Vietnamese BUT Mr. GreenBean is, so these cheesy pictures are in my future. May I ask you something? how much does a session like this cost? because we got quotes in our area(OC ,CA) and they were EXPENSIVE !

Miss Plum says:

Miss GreenBean - we got our session for free bc my family knows the photographer, but I think he’s really cheap - probably charges only about $200 or so for a session like this - for an entire day of shooting for a wedding, he only charges around $1k!

Hehhe oh the memories of taking pictures in high school come to mind! You look beautiful though! :)

Totally reminded me of old family wedding pictures in Korea in the 50’s. You guys look great despite the ooey gooey velveetaness. It’s something to tell your children and grandchildren. Besides can’t beat the price tag for yet another wedding memory. :)

Iris says:

Good thing you are both so good looking, because it makes the corny backgrounds less noticeable. The last one is retro to say the least. Well, old-school is better than over-computerized special effects.

Miss Plum says:

haha I like that - “retro” and/or reminiscent of photos from the 50’s - they totallyyyyy remind me of that foreign film/movie I just watched - “In the Mood for Love”

Miss Apple says:

oh i really like that blue ao dai on you with his matching tie. very cute!

You look amazing and it makes sense to have some uber traditional photos, even if they aren’t glorious pieces of art like we’re all used to seeing. :-) They look nice, though, for what they are! And hey, if you look as gorge as you do, who cares? ;-)

I love them and the beautiful clothes. I love those fabrics. I think they are great photos. They would be cheesy to me, except that they are not from my boring cultureless experience and so I really like them. Nothing unflattering about the angles. Besides, I am so tired of the “dress in the window” photo, I could spit. That’s cheesy.
