More Things To Worry About

April 18th, 2007 @ 11:16 am by Mrs. Blueberry

Last week I called the shop that’s doing our flower girl dresses, just to check up on when they’d be in. “Oh, don’t worry,” said the clerk. “They’ll be in in plenty of time!”

Then a couple days later she called me back… “I’m not sure why, but the manufacturer says the dresses won’t ship until May 18.” My jaw hit the floor because our wedding is next month. “We’re doing everything we can to push that date up!” she said. whateva01

Then my cousin Julie, the mom of two of my flower girls, called the shop. They told *her* that the dresses had only been ordered the day prior! WTF?!?!?! Julie strongly suggested that it would be in their best interests for the dresses to be in on time, and they’d better be.

My question is pretty much just…..???? Why weren’t the dresses ordered *two months ago* when everyone was in for the fitting? That’s apparently because the shop knew I had four girls, and was waiting for the fourth girl to come in. But guess what? All 4 had been in, and they’d taken measurements on all four. So because someone can’t count, we may end up rushing around Dillard’s a week before the wedding.

Bah. I could handle this all a lot better if I weren’t worrying about finals on top of everything!

Who is the maker of the dresses? Nordstroms has US Angels dresses for sale online and I think they are all ready to ship.

Did you actually give them the go ahead to order the dresses? Were ordering contracts, etc. signed? I guess in my experience, everything was actually ordered while I was there. It’s wierd that they didn’t contact you or the girl’s guardian if they were in fact waiting for the 4th girl and they should have had your wedding date somewhere, but then again, it seems like both of you should have been aware that the dresses had actually been ordered, and not just that all 4 girls had been measured.

funny how they gave you totally different info than your cousin. what a complete lapse of judgement on the shop’s part. i hope they do come in time but maybe as a precaution/back up, when you’re done with finals [good luck!] you and the mothers can shop for dresses at the store.

Geez….horrible. Sorry you have to deal with that. don’t worry too much about it now. Worry about your tests. I know how that goes…

Oh jeez… I’m sorry. I feel like that’s what’s going to happen with a bridesmaid’s dress.

Babe, I’m not saying that it’s the case with you*, but some shops out here are notorious for not ordering dresses. See, they get the $$ up front, so the longer they wait to order the longer the $$ stays in their bank accounts. This might not be what’s happening, but if anything seems fishy, give them hell. They might miraculously find a way to pull strings.

*Check with your locals on the knot to see if the shop has a bad rep.

Keep us updated!

Wow that stinks…if all else fails the girls can wear bathing suits and you can replace the aisle runner with a slip n slide. Would make for a memorable occasion : ) Hope that cheered you up.
Good luck!

Go and check out Marshalls .. before Nordstrom … I just purchased 3 dresses (same design) — the US Angels brand — for only $36… I’m going to try and go to a bridal store and purchase a sash for it .. the wedding is next sunday … we just changed the dress at the last minute.. so i hope it all goes well …
