He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. VIP Guest List

April 18th, 2007 @ 11:45 am by Mrs. Lemon

All of my envelopes are addressed and ready to go… even those to the “VIP” Guests. Sure, they won’t be coming to the wedding (although I do have the in’s with Mickey & Minnie) and they will be getting a pretty color copy of the invite instead of the real thing… but I’ve heard they send lovely momentos in their place. In case you’d like to invite some VIPs to your wedding, here are just a few of the addresses I have collected:

Mickey and Minnie Mouse
The Walt Disney Company
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, California 91521

[for CA residents]
The Governor & Mrs. Arnold Schwartzenegger
State Capitol Building
Sacramento, California 95814

The President & Mrs. George Bush
The White House
Greetings Office Room 39
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, District of Columbia, 20500

[for Catholics]
Pope Benedictus XVI
Prefettura della Casa Pontifica
00210 Citta del Vaticano, Italia

[for Brits — you won’t get anything back unless you are a British citizen]
The Secretary to Her Magesty
Queen Elizabeth II
Buckingham Palace
London, England SW1A 1AA

Any names/addresses you’d like to add to the list??

I have a friend who is a huge Mickey fan. Too bad we didn’t know about this when she got married, 5 years ago. Too bad I didn’t know 8 months ago since I do love Disney, although not necessarily a Mickey fan. A very fun post.

I didn’t know about Mickey and Minnie, that’s good to know. I was just sending one to the President and the Pope. What do Mickey normally send and do you think we could invite Dopey too? (I used to say that I would marry Dopey after all, what girl doesn’t want a dwarf with a jewelry mine and who can blow bubbles out of their ears?)

We got a very nice response from Pres & Mrs Bush — by White House staff, I’m sure. Stamped signatures. Still nice for the scrapbook.

Sorry if this is a dumb question…I’ve just never heard of this before. Do many of you actually send invites to the president, pope, and other famous names?

wsukarebear says:

Kara-yep! Some send to Oprah, too. I think 99.9% of the time it’s just to get a greetings card for display at the wedding or for a keepsake for the scrapbook–no one really expects the president to show at their wedding. Although I guess there’s always the chance…

How do you get the addresses for these people? If anyone has the address for Tiger Woods, Dale Earhnardt Jr or Tony Stewart I would love it. (FH is huge golf fan and Nascar)

You spelled “Schwartzenegger” wrong. From the Governor’s web site:

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
State Capitol Building
Sacramento, CA 95814

@Stacy:
I found this on the Governor’s website as well:
How do I invite the Governor to an event?

You can invite Governor Schwarzenegger to an event by submitting a formal request in writing, with at least 30 days advance notice, to the Governor’s scheduling office at:

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
ATTN: Scheduling Office
State Capitol
Sacramento, CA 95814

or by fax at 916-558-3160. (new number)

Please be sure to include the date, time and location of the event. Also include information pertaining to the nature of the event and the requested role of the Governor at the event.
