Gold Mine: After-Holiday Sales

April 19th, 2007 @ 5:29 pm by Mrs. Plum

As you may have heard me mention before - after holiday sales are one of the best resources for really cute wedding items at great prices! After Valentines, I picked up these lovelies for the kids’ kits…

Since my wedding has a cute bird motif/not-so-much-theme, I waited very patiently for Easter to pass by so I could look for some really cute bird/springy items. I started researching early and kept my eyes open for items that I potentially could use/incorporate into my theme, and kept tabs on them until the day after Easter.

That is how I stumbled across these SUPER cute truffle eggs from one of my all-time favorite stores, Williams-Sonoma!

I had been desperately trying to find some sort of egg-shaped candy to place in my teeny birds nests I purchased several months ago, also from Williams-Sonoma, and did not want to have to resort to Jordan Almonds, as I am not a fan - so these were the perfect alternative!

They came in this HUGE box! I only ordered 9 boxes of the truffle eggs - I think 3 eggs per nest should be enough, right? :)

They’re really cute and tasty too! For you other bird brides, they’re still on sale for $3.99 a box online at WilliamsSonoma.com! Go check it out!

Man, when I posted about those eggs in February, they were like, 12 bucks a box- great job finding them at bargain prices! Will they still be good in June?

Wonderful find! Keep them really well sealed (try Fresher Longer containers) to keep them super-fresh!

You’re lucky it’s only two months between Easter and your wedding - my wedding is right BEFORE Halloween and there’s not really a candy-festive holiday between now and then. So any candy I could have found on sale recently would have been 6 months old by the time the wedding came around!

kandaceandjason — good point! We stocked up on Christmas and Valentine candy. Guess which was fresher on the big day?

Miss Popcorn says:

In Canada, there’s the somewhat more pedestrian looking option of Cadbury Mini Eggs. I hear you have them in the US but Not Martha says they aren’t as good.
