Out of Town Totes

April 19th, 2007 @ 3:06 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

Daily Candy Everywhere featured these totes today and I thought they were so cute for out of town goodies, or maybe for all of the stuff you have for your bridesmaids…

They are $12 each and they also do custom map totes. Check them out here.

I love those bags and had come across them way back when I was trying to decide what to do for my OOT guests.

In the end, $12 each was more than I wanted to spend for the bags alone. So, I had knottie aylee create a custom LA-themed monogram for us (palm trees, airplane, etc) and I printed them onto iron on transfers that I got at JoAnn’s ($10 for the pack). I also bought plain white tote bags from JoAnn’s for about $8 for 4. I bought 16 of those babies, spent one morning using the software that came with the transfers and voila! I think our OOT bags will be a great, personalized hit!

What a great idea. they would be great for my really out of town guests. And for the few OOT guests that I have, they are “better” than buying a case of gable boxes.

Miss Snow Pea - I originally wanted to do gable boxes because I really liked the shape of the box. But then, I realized that when guests are checking into a hotel, the last thing they want is something that they need to carry by hand! Also, when all is said and done, my tote bags cost similar to what I would have paid for a gable box, I didn’t have to worry about decorating it, and there’s tons more flexibility with respect to what and how much you can put into the bag.

Also, a tote bag would be something they could at least sling over their shoulder or strap to their luggage. Also, moms, grandmas, aunts, little cousins, etc.. would love to have a little reminder to take with them!

$12 is a bit rich for my blood.

We did a destination wedding and were able to nab great bags for less than $2.

I blogged on OOT bags yesterday:
