Bridesmaids’ Gifts… Check!

April 20th, 2007 @ 9:28 am by Mrs. Plumeria

I know I posted earlier about giving my bridesmaids some nice jewelry, but in the end, the idea somehow didn’t appeal to me as much as it had when I first began wedding planning. I have collected some random smaller items so far to give each of them, but what I needed most was something nice to put them in and which would serve as the “nice” part of their gift.

I did countless searches online for a suitable solution — something cute, but useful, and something they could use after the wedding. No bridesmaid-dress-colored items for my girls; while I love the soft teal/aqua of their dresses, I know none of them would use a purse or bag in that exact hue again.

I finally came upon 1154 Lill Studio, and I was immediately and completely enamored with the handbag designs available on the site! (Before writing this post, I checked back to see if anyone else in the hive had ever mentioned 1154 Lill Studio — and discovered that Mrs. Bee had in fact posted about them in 2006). The best part about 1154 Lill is that every bag is completely customizable — even online, users can change bag and trim colors with a huge amount of fabric choices to make bags to fit any personality; the website allows for easy and fairly accurate previews of what bags will look in the different fabrics. I could seriously play purse designer on this site for ages; it was more fun than anything else choosing an appropriate pattern for each girl!

I chose the Jeanne style customized handbags, which are reversible, and decided to have one side of all of the bags uniform, with neutral tones. The other side, however, is customized for each girl according to her personality and favorite colors, so each bridesmaid will have one neutral design, as well as a fun, personalized one! I’m thrilled to have finally found the perfect gift and I can’t wait to get them and give them to the girls! As a bonus, any bridal order of 5 of more yields a 10% discount, and I should receive my custom-made order in about three weeks (and in the nick of time, really!).

Here’s a few of the cute styles at 1154 Lill…

Aww, we have a Lil Studio here in Chicago and its really popular for brides/bridesmaids. I considered doing something like this too, cuz they are super cute! But then remembered that one of my BMs exclusively carries high end purses, so this would be a total waste on her. haha =/

I just filled out their request for a private party… I think this would be fun– and I’ll shell out to “help” pay for their selections as their gifts… I can’t promise more than that haha because I’m selfish and I’ll probably spend it all on myself =)

i’ve been to the 1154 studio in chicago, and i love it! it was a little overwhelming with all the different fabric selections and options… but it was a really fun time with my girlfriends. i do feel like it’s a little on the pricey side, but you gotta splurge once in a while.

I sooo wish I could actually go to the studio somewhere and see how it is designing them in person!

Even ordering online, though, I was impressed with their service. A very nice customer service rep named Amanda called and went through every fabric combination with me to make sure they all looked good, as I can’t see them in person. That certainly put me at ease in regards to the patterns and colors not clashing and I really appreciated it, especially as these bags were admittedly somewhat more of a splurge than I had planned. But, I figure — when you find the perfect item you can’t pass it up if the only reason is the cost being a little bit more than planned; I can rearrange my budget a little to give my girls something they really deserve!

These look soooo cute! I personally love the bags on accentsofelegance.com. They’re having a big sale on Whiting and Davis bags right now, so this might be a good option for anyone still searching for the perfect bridemaids gifts!

I ordered the Leslie style cosmetic bags from 1154 Lill about a month or two ago, and they’re really cute! I chose a different fabric for each of the two girls in my wedding. Inside, I’m going to put a monogrammed compact mirror, and the jewelry that I’m going to make from freshwater pearls. I couldn’t afford to get them a purse, but I think the cosmetic bags are dear!

I’m glad I bought them when I did though, because the price has already gone up $3 since then.

I love 1154 Lill Studio! David got me a custom purse from there for Christmas one year - they have the best service and I looooove all their different fabrics!

There are sellers on etsy.com who offer customized handbags as well! Lill’s are cute, but a bit pricey for me (since it would be one of several gifts), so I ordered wristlets customized for each girl from seller tmstudio.

I received a bag from 1154 Lill a few years back as a BM gift and I love it! Good choice! The bride personalized each one to match the colors/styles we each wear… I have a feeling it took her a long long time to do all 7 of them. Well worth it in my opinion, I use it very often!

I LOVE LILL! I went there with a girlfriend and our mothers/sister-in-law in February (it was our xmas gift to the in-laws) and was shocked at how fun it was! Because I booked the party where 5+ people bought bags, I got a $50 credit…and then when I emailed them my response to their feedback survey, I got ANOTHER $50 gift cert. in a random drawing! So I’m really digging Lill right now, and am about to go back in less than 2 weeks for a bachelorette party. It’s super fun and TOTALLY worth it.
