For those of you considering this, take a second to think of all the images you could use beyond the simple engagement photo. You could use a logo or monogram you’ve incorporated into your paper goods, or (this is my favorite idea) use your parents’ wedding photos instead.

Or your dog. Or just your hands with the engagement ring. Or a sunset at your destination. Or a pretty flower that matches the envelope.

A friend of mine got stamps of just his eye, starin’ right atcha. I probably wouldn’t suggest that for wedding invitation envelopes, but it does give you an example of the kind of variety this allows.

Does anyone know how long it will take them to come out with the “wedding” stamps for the new rate? I think the first ones available will just be flags and the Liberty Bell. Nice, but not exactly what I want for my wedding envelopes!

Isn’t it weird that the 2-ounce stamp is DECREASING (from 63 cents to 58 cents) starting May 14. Most wedding invitations need the 2-ounce stamp, so… If you have a 2-ounce mailing, might want to wait until May 14.

Post cards increase from 24 to 26 cents on May 14.

The new USPS wedding stamps are: 2-ounce (58 cents) in pink and coordinating 1-ounce (41 cents) in purple.

Or if you need a 1-ounce stamp and want your stamp to say “Forever” and don’t mind the Liberty Bell picture, there’s the new “Forever” stamp at USPS starting May 14. Cool for Philly weddings.

The new rate wedding stamps appear in the 2007 press release on the usps website, but don’t have a date listed. If it’s any consolation, the new stamps appear to be listed in chronological order; the blurb about the stamp listed before Wedding begins “in the spring…” and the one after it “in the summer.”

So no real information, but something upon which to build assumptions. Run with it at your own risk.

I’ve heard that the new wedding stamps won’t becoming out until mid-July. Not sure where I heard this (probably some wedding related discussion board), and I’m not positive about the date (or the source).

Thanks for the info–I did some google searching based on the advice, here and I found a site that shows the new designs. The new wedding stamps are scheduled to come out on June 27. They’re kind of pretty–not very modern-looking, but not bad. There are some really pretty 41 cent stamps coming out in August–too late (and too lightweight!) for me. The site is http://www.virtualstampclub.com

I love zazzle. We used these for our invitations, which were very simple and by simply having this stamp they were RAVED about=) If you have a simple invitation due to a smaller budget I highly suggest spending a lil more for these stamps to brighten you invitation.

The new USPS stamps won’t give you much choice. There is only one design and you can’t customize the colors to match your invitiations.

As people have mentioned, you’re much better off designing your own at Zazzle or feel free to check out our Wedding Stamp site from the link at the top of the post. We’ve already designed dozens (hundreds if you count all the monogram choices).

It’s great that brides have so many choices these days. Just fiev or six years ago, they had no choice at all when it came to getting wedding postage.
