I Think I’m In Love!

I have blogged and raved about the fabulous Fifty-Foot Films in the past - they are so creative, innovative, and their films are absolutely romantic and utterly breathtaking. They are well-renowned for what they refer to as ‘cinematic decadence’ - you definitely have to check out their website!

I adore their artistic style, the fact that every video just exudes warmth and romance, and I love the fact that they use music that is ‘unconventional’ and unexpected, yet so perfect (I absolutely love the version of Sting’s” Fields of Gold” that they used in the Texas film clip). They were probably the first film company that I contacted to capture my wedding and the one that I used as THE standard thereafter - which resulted in a very disappointing and basically fruitless search. However, as they are located in California and have teams in New York, the rest of us who are located in other parts of the country have had to suffer (that is, if we couldn’t afford to fly them in). sad05

But let me tell you something VERY exciting - they have expanded their business! Paul, the very talented owner and visionary of Fifty Foot Films emailed me over the weekend to let me in on a project that they have been working very diligently on (he actually reads this! laughin07) - now, brides located all over the country can have their wedding memories documented in the beautiful style of Fifty-Foot Films with their new sister company, Paper Tape Films, which will be officially launching this week!

What is it? From what I understand, they are a division of Fifty-Foot - consisting of gifted film students who are located all around the nation, trained by Fifty-Foot, who come to your wedding to capture the best moments on Super 8mm tape and then send it off to Fifty-Foot to be edited using their unique blend of magic.

Well, enough raving - go check out their site!

They already have many examples of weddings shot by film teams possibly in YOUR area! Pricing begins at a reasonable $3k - and is definitely worth every penny, judging from what I see in their portfolio! Oh, how I wish they were available for my upcoming wedding!!

Their sample films are awesome to the point now where I am ready to throw away my anti-videographer stance and hire them.

I have question, what is customary price to hire a videographer?

I knowww - they’re fantastic!

The average price It hink really depends on the area in which you live - for me, 3k is about average for a 8 hour package (hd video, 2 dvds, etc.- real standard) and 1k is on the lower end of the video spectrum (meaning you get straight up taping, barely any editing, cheesy titles/effects when you do have editing).

I LOVE Fifty Foot films– they are so artistic. But I can totally see my parents and relatives saying, “Why did you pay so much for a wedding video that looks old??” They just don’t get it :)
