Mother of the Bride Dress

May 1st, 2007 @ 4:11 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

My mom has gone and done it…

She finally found a dress (it is incredible!) and has ordered it from NetBride. I know several of you have inquired as to the reliability of ordering from an online company and so far, we have been extremely happy with their service. I will keep you posted as the order progresses.

So, without any further ado…

The top color is champagne and the bottom is acorn. This picture makes it look much lighter than the dress really is. The dress is from Watters & Watters.

I can’t wait to see her in the dress! It is so pretty and motherly, without being frumpy. We had a really hard time finding the perfect dress for her, as they all seem like evening wear attire (which she did not want to look like she was going to the prom) or matronly and inelegant, so we were very happy when she tried this on and it looked beautiful!

I love that! Soooo classy, and you’re right - not matronly at all.

Glad you got to see it - my mom lives 250 miles away and all I got was a picture on a website (in the wrong color of course) where the dress is covered up by a jacket thing. My mom ordered it because it was on sale AND she had a coupon. I’m sad because I made her promise she would spend a day shopping with me just the two of us, but when I okayed the online order it was on the condition that if I didn’t like it, mom would send it back.

She got it and likes it, so I’m hoping for the best because we really have different tastes (when she remarries next year, she’s wearing a skirt she bought at the Renaissance Festival!) This could prove to be a good thing for both of us :)

Very regal! And it leaves a lot of options for accessories because of the open neckline and 3/4 sleeves.

Miss raspberry that is a nice dress your mommy will look great!
kandaceandjason I am in the same boat as you. All I saw was a web site picture. So we will see. But she really wanted to wear this god awful hat that came with it. It reminded me of the hat she wore in 1974 when she married my dad. FUGLY! I told her no hat and I have my sister (MOH) on the look out for that thing and she has my permisson to throw it away!

It’s very similar to my favorite MOG dress ever. I played in a string quartet at an acquaintance’s wedding, and the bridesmaids had basically that dress in red, with an ankle-length skirt; the MOG got the same jacket in champagne, with a straight floor-length skirt like this one. SO classy.

that’s beautiful and exactly the kind of style my mom is looking for. would you happen to know if ordering from netbride would be significantly cheaper? and did your mom try on the dress to see what size she is at another store that carries watters and watters before ordering through netbride?

Yes, my mom did try on the dress at a store that carries Watters and Watters before ordering it through NetBride, and yes, the dress was almost $100 cheaper!

ciaobella - I ordered my wedding and bridesmaid dresses from netbride and had a great experience. The quote they gave me for my wedding dress was over $300 cheaper. I found my bridesmaid dresses cheaper at houseofbrides.com where they also offer free shipping, and when I pointed this out to netbride, they not only matched the lower price but also shipped to me for free! So definitely check them out, but check out other places too to find the best deals for netbride to meet!
