Gearing Up

May 3rd, 2007 @ 11:30 am by Mrs. Blueberry

I just took my last final of the semester (yay!), which means that all I have standing between me and wedding planning is one more week of preschool.

What do I have left to do? So much…everything from vows and Do Not Play lists, to the flower girl baskets and buying all the food. I can’t believe I’ve been planning this shindig for nearly a year, and I still have so much to do!

But despite it all, we’re running off to St Louis one more time. Mr. Blueberry’s parents have season tickets to the Cards, so I think we’re going to the game on Tuesday, and Mr. Blueberry still needs some wedding clothes (”What do I need besides a tux?”). Most of his polos and button-up shirts have seen better days, so we’ve got to get him outfitted for the rehearsal dinner and the day-after brunch. Who knew men’s casual wear was so hard to plan? Well, for someone who hates khakis, it is!

6 days before the wedding–I’ll be in Kansas City for good. That’s when I’ll finish up all those aforementioned projects–it’s gonna be a hectic few days!

How many days are you taking off before the wedding? Do you think it’ll be enough time?

I am taking 5 days before the wedding and 5 days after the wedding. I’m sure that’ll be enough time before the wedding but it’s hard to say when you’re planning a destination wedding.

I am taking off the whole week (I think). 2 days is what I had planned but I don’t think it will be enough so I might as well take the whole week. I figure I won’t be any good at work anyway with the wedding on my mind.

Okay, this is making me rethink my notion of taking off just the two days before the wedding (and the week after for the honeymoon, of course). Perhaps I should reconsider; I will be worthless at work as well. Of course, I don’t have any DIY projects yet, so perhaps I’m okay?

And on a side note, I am SO jealous that you get to see the Cards play! I’ve been a fan since I was in the womb (I grew up in IL two hours southeast of STL), and loooooove the games. Hopefully they’ll be on a winning streak by Tuesday - have fun!

I’m getting married on a Sunday (May 27!) So I am taking the Friday before it off. I feel wierd because I’m in the same boat as a lot of the ladies here with a little more than 3 weeks to go, and I don’t feel panicked. I’m actually not too sure what I’m going/supposed to do on the Friday before! Almost all of our wedding stuff is already in NJ (I live in DC), favors/placecards are done, the vows have been written, at this point, whatever happens happens! It is what it is!

What am I missing? Why don’t I feel panicked?

I’ve got awhile to think about it so no decisions set in stone yet. However, the weekend before our wedding is when our alma mater plays one of our biggest rivals (it’s something we took into consideration when setting a date!) and we are already planning on going down for the game. It’s a tradition for our friends and us to literally pitch tents and camp out the week before (open seating policy = first ones in line get first pick at seats). I don’t know if we’ll get to camp with them for the whole week, but I think we are also going to try to plan our b-parties for that weekend, so no matter what we’ll be sleep-deprived and unproductive at work the week leading up to our wedding. Hmmm…

2 days for me. I haven’t accrued much vacation yet and I’m using a ton for the honeymoon. I think I’ll be okay.. but ask me again next week hahahaha!

We’re getting married the weekend after July 4th (a Wednesday this year); I’d like to take the two days before the wedding off and get a bonus third, because of the holiday…but more likely I’ll have Wednesday for the holiday and I’ll take Friday off. I can’t be too greedy with a two-week honeymoon.

Just one day for me. I have a lot to do at work before I go on vacay. Everyone keeps telling me I should take more time, but I can pretty much decide that week.

lol my boyfriend hates chinos, 99% of the time he wears cargo pants/shorts. but when it’s a special occasion he always dresses up for me. :) just tell him it’ll only be for a few hours.

I’m taking the week before our Saturday wedding off…BUT throw a move into the mix and I kind of wish I had more time! I’m moving into my fiance’s condo (75 miles north of where I currently live) exactly 1 week before we get married. My plan is to move Saturday, then UNPACK LIKE A MANIAC on Sunday and Monday. That leaves Tuesday through Friday for all things wedding. I’m pretty organized, so I think I will have most of my stuff taken care of (at least as much as possible) before that last week.

And I’m taking the Monday after the wedding off to preserve the newlywed glow :) We’re not going on honeymoon until 2 weeks after we get married (to take advantage of that extra day off over Labor Day weekend), so I’ll be back in the office for awhile.

My wedding is a Sunday. I was going to work Monday and Tuesday and take the rest of the week off. Then I realized that the Monday is Memorial Day, so I’d only be working one day. So I added the Wednesday back in, but then I found out that we can only drop our stuff–all the decorative stuff!–at the hall on Tuesday or Wednesday, they won’t accept it Thursday. What if someone forgets something?!? I need to be there. (Whoop! Whoop! Bridezilla Alert!) :D I do have a hard time trusting other people to do things properly, I feel I have to do or supervise everything myself. So I think I’m only going to be at work one day that week after all. :)

We can’t find a time to get the license before that week of the wedding, and since the Tuesday prior will be The Last Day to get one, we’re driving up the Monday prior. The thing is, I’m willing to bet the stress level will increase in that last week, not because we’re suddenly counting down by hours instead of weeks, but because we’ll be living with his parents. Yikes!

I’m taking the three weeks between graduation and the wedding off. I don’t have a permanant job right now, which is why I’m able to do this. Then a couple of days after the wedding for our minimoon.
