Our Wedding Programs…

May 3rd, 2007 @ 4:37 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

Wedding program fans are such a cute idea. Surprisingly, they are very simple to make if you have all the right tools and instructions. Here’s a great source online on how to make these wedding programs.

I bought champagne, mint green, and kunzite pearlescent 8.5 x 11 cardstock and text paper from paperandmore’s website, and used Microsoft Word to create the wedding program using the template from the above website. It was quite easy to change the font to a pretty script font, fit all the text in the program fan outlines, and still have some room to add a few personal details to the fan.

I added a small ivory flower and a hint of french design to the front of each program by using one of Anne Griffin’s hole punchers. Behind each hole punch, I added a tiny piece of gold pearlescent paper to add a little glimmer. For the last page of the program, I wanted to present our chinese tea ceremony. I used my double happiness hole punch, trimmed around the design using a pair of scalloped scissors, and added another little piece of gold paper behind the design to add more color.

I initially thought it would be difficult to create these programs because each page had to be cut out carefully. To easily cut out these pages, I used a paper cutter for the straight edges and simply trimmed the curved edges with a pair of scissors. For the final product, I’ll add a gold metallic eyelet along with a pretty purple ribbon. I love the DIY website I featured above. She has some great ideas for destination weddings, invitations, and other reception ideas.

Darnit, everyone’s talking about fan programs again, and I thought I’d gotten that out of my system. I originally wanted to do fans because it’s outdoors in June, but some of the content (specifically, the crossword puzzle, natch) wouldn’t be able to fit in that shape. Weeks went by as I peacefully worked on my boring old 8-page letter-half booklet, but now such beautiful fans are all around and I’m getting jealous!

(Oh, btw, anyone still in the dark ages like me and thinking of a booklet, consider a tiny one that will fit in people’s pockets! That’s another neat idea I can’t use because of the content, so I bequeath it unto you.)

I found the double happiness punch on ebay. Someone is usually selling it on ebay from overseas. FYI, the hole punch was tricky to work with, you could only punch the edges of the paper so you could never make a hole punch wherever you like. This was sooo frustrating!!! A way around it was to cut out the design using scalloped scissors and adhering it to your cardstock. Hope this helps!

Miss Plum, I can e-mail you an example. I had no clue until I met my officiant last week, she explained all the details about our ceremony. Our ceremony is kind of non-traditional, so you might want to contact your officiant.

Really nice programs. They’re perfect for placement on the backs of chairs. I’m not sure what parts of the ceremony to include in my programs but I figure less is more.

Where did you get your double happiness hole punch?

Hello! I found you by doing a “Google Alert” for “wedding ceremonies” and I just wanted to say “thank you” for creating such beauty!

I do two things which I think you’d appreciate:

I paint on LOTUS LEAVES (they look like fans).

AND.. I write “personalized wedding plays”!

Weddingbee » Blog Archive » So Many Ways To Say Thank You!

[...] I’m slowly writing out our thank you cards and making a few special ones for our close family members and for the ones who couldn’t make it out to Philadelphia. I purchased some specialty japanese paper at Amoeba Art Shop and chocolate colored scalloped cards from Allegheny Art Company in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. I printed out a few photos and cropped them to the appropriate size for the card. I stamped and embossed “Merci” on leftover pieces of gold paper from our wedding programs. [...]

I love your wedding programs! I really need help in making these type of programs as I am doing it for a destination wedding and I think the fans will be very useful for my guests. Would you mind sharing the template of your design or the link to the templates?

Hi,
Everything you did for your wedding looks gorgeous!

I am in search of an officiant for our wedding in September 2008, in Princeton. If you’re still checking this site, please let me know if you have a good source for officiants and/or how you found one.

Much appreciated.

Your programs are so pretty and I’m planning on doing the same thing!! However, I have an inkjet printer and when I print on the pearlescent cardstock, the ink doesn’t seem to dry… did you use a laser printer?
