To Glow

May 3rd, 2007 @ 3:07 pm by Mrs. Apple

I met up with a friend who I haven’t seen in ages (6 months or so) a few weeks ago, and she mentioned that I am “glowing”.

Huh? Glowing? But I’m not pregnant? People “glow” when they’re pregnant, right?

Maybe it’s the “I am going to be married glow?” :-)

Did you receive any comments like that?

Wow, what a coincidence. I got that same comment today after returning from getting my marriage license. I guess I was happy and didn’t even know it. I’m going to agree with you that it’s a “I’m gettin’ married” glow.

Oh, I’ve definitely heard that I’m glowing. I just take it as a compliment — people think you look happy!

Nope, haven’t had that comment… but that reminds me of one comment (or rather, question) that I DID get…

When we first got engaged at Christmas 4 months ago, we were originally planning to get married THIS summer which would have been an 8 month engagement in total. The mother of one of my bridesmaids actually came out and said, “oh, that’s a short engagement. Did you plan it that way because you’re pregnant?”

DUDE! If I were pregnant, do you think I’d really be planning the wedding for 8 months from the time I found out? I’d be likely to break my water at the altar…

We ended up changing the date to next summer anyway, but that was because all the good venues were booked up, nothing to do with that comment. I thought the question was totally inappropriate, but I thought it was hilarious.

I actually have received that comment. I was a little thrown off also. But I figured it was a compliment. She told me ever since I got engaged I had a “marriage glow”. hehe~

i got that comment pretty frequently from the most different people throughout the first year we were dating. i guess it was the “in love” glow.

i haven’t heard it since we got enaged, though. i am happy about it, but no glow! ah well, glad you are! ;)

I’ve never gotten the glow remark, but I did have someone comment to my mom and aunt about me when they told him I was getting married… he said something along the lines of, “oh that’s why she’s so happy… she’s in love!” (I didn’t mention that this was a funeral director for my grandpa’s funeral… so I didn’t know that I looked happy at ALL… go figure… I guess something showed through all the sadness)

Right after I got engaged, I was told that I looked “radiant” by my fiance’s landlords, and “radioactive” by the PI of my lab (I guess when you are a science nerd, describing someone as radioactive is quite the compliment).

Yes! I’ve gotten that comment a few times! Really funny.. also made me wonder if I should be worried about the other thing that makes you glow!
