Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

We’ve Got Six More Months…

May 3rd, 2007 @ 1:46 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

With six months to the day left, I have a few things to be thankful for, I got a new phone yesterday - finally the “Dukes of Hazzard” theme song that was my last ringtone can die. Sure, it’s a catchy tune, but do you really want people to hear “Just the good ol’ boys, never meaning no harm…” on the bus? Yeah, me neither.

Also, my MOH is starting to come through. Her idea of a dress perfectly coincides with my ideas for her dress, and she’s shopping while I type! She’s also helping with the favors, we’re going to go the uber common route of truffles - but we’re using See’s Candy rather than Godiva or Leonidas. Unfortunately (for him), Mr. Kiwi’s favorite is raspberry, which the MOH (also his sister) already had at her wedding. Good thing (for me), because I want chocolate chip truffles! Generously, MOH has offered to pay for them herself. It’s so good to have people who care for you and know when you just don’t have the money for something like that. Had she not offered, we’d be getting jordan almonds - which I love. Either way we’d be happy.

The third great thing - I booked my tasting with the Torrance Bakery yesterday. They’re booked for Saturdays until June 2nd, which gives me plenty of time to think about what I want. Getting the information about Torrance Bakery had me speaking to our new wedding coordinator. We’re going to meet soon, and hash out a few more details- like no more gold tablecloths. happy013

Fourth great thing, we have our flower girl dress. It’s adorable! I just need to find a gold sash, and she’ll be stylin’. The dress was completely searched for and bought by my Aunt Sharon - grandmother of the flowergirl - and it’s perfect. A gold and ivory tea length sleeveless dress, with a frickin’ cute sash. Can’t wait.

Even though some details are now a little hazy (some things transpired that I can’t talk about - sorry), with a possibility of them not working out, I have things to be glad for.

Do you ever just stop and think about the things you have gotten done, and feel proud?

It’s nice to hang onto a few of the old ratty to-do lists for the scrapbook and to give yourself a pat on the back.

Wow, I guess that mean I too only have 6 months! All of a sudden time is flying by and I should undo this lull in the planning process I have been in.

I periodically go through the big binder of ideas and tear out everything that didn’t make the cut. Six pages of dresses! *rip* Four pages of headpieces and veils! *rip*

Months ago, that binder wouldn’t close properly. Now, it’s got plenty of empty space.

Sarah, I did the same thing! So satisfying to toss the reject ideas and thin out the bulky binders.
