Mrs. Plum, Dallas Age and Occupation in 06: 22, Accountant by day/Floral and Event Designer by night and weekends Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Security Admin Engagement Date: December 31, 2004 Wedding Date: June 29, 2007 Venue: Marie Gabrielle Restaurant and Gardens About Me: I have been engaged for about two years now - yes, a long engagement, because my fiance and I wanted to wait until I graduated college, which I did this past summer! He proposed after dating just two months - crazy, I know, but 2 years later, here we are, still crazy in love :-). We are having not one, but TWO weddings and TWO receptions in one weekend - American-style and Vietnamese-style - in Dallas, Texas, where I was born and raised!
About Mrs. Plum

It was so weird. It was my wedding day and I was getting married at some glass mansion (all the walls, the furniture, everything was made of glass and see-through). I was getting dressed in a glass room, and I could see all my guests waiting for me outside by a gazebo - they were all watching me get dressed. I kept saying “Nooooo! they can see me!” but people kept trying to change my clothes for me! I was freaking out, crying, and screaming and I didn’t know why everything was going wrong. My makeup artist and hair stylist didn’t show up. Turns out that I ‘forgot’ to call them and tell them the correct time/place to show up. The salon brought the wrong dress - a hideous bright-white “swan” dress with poof sleeves.

I didn’t have shoes or accessories and I was in some dingy looking flannel PJ’s. I remember my coordinator kept trying to calm me down saying that everything was going to be ok - 6 hours passed and my makeup artist and hair stylist still hadn’t shown up. The next thing I knew, another glass mansion popped up right next to my room and another bride was getting married - her wedding was perfect and went off without a hitch. Her ceremony was literally 4 steps away from where my ceremony site was already set up with my guests waiting for me.

The next thing I knew, I ran out of the glass mansion and onto a busy New York street - except everyone was on racing motorcycles and vespas - some random Italian man picked me up on a blue vespa and I started making out with him??!

wow, that was much more interesting than most of mine - i keep having dreams that it’s the day of the wedding and we forgot to do EVERYTHING. and my FI keeps saying it will be fine and i’m WTF IT’S NOT FINE. maybe that indicates that i shouldn’t be so obsessed with making everything perfect.

“You ever have a nightmare and decide to tell somebody about it and then halfway through you realize you’re retarded?
‘I was running through this pool of marshmallows in my flip flops and then the manager came out and he was all kgjhanbj dkjgh jkhag mm and we only had 18 seconds left to eject before the bowling alley closed, and Tom you were there but you didn’t look like Tom and that was freaking me out… I like cheese.’
What? We’re no longer friends…”

Haha Daniel Tosh - cracks me up every time. You’re not retarded, Miss Plum. Daniel Tosh is. You’re just overworked and overstressed and stress leads to dreams. I did, however, read your dream to FH to prove I’m not the only one that has weird crazy wedding dreams!

WOW - Jen from comment #1, you just described my two nightmares… I’ve only had a handful of nightmares in my whole life, and now I’ve had TWO wedding related. The jist of it is that absolutely nothing is ready on the day of - I think that I am just freaked out because my photographer told me that he is going to start taking pictures before we get access to set up the reception site, and he will be doing group photos up until my guests arrive. So basically I get NO TIME to have anything to do with the reception set up at all - - Apparently I’m a little stressed about that!!!

Yeah, I dreamed I forgot to mail the invitations and no one showed up. CRAZY how preoccupied the brain is.

What’s wrong with that poofy dress? Just think of the many figure flaws it could disguise!

Even though I am not stressed about my wedding (not yet anyway) I’ve had a couple anxiety dreams about not having enough time to get ready before the ceremony is supposed to start… glad to see I’m not the only one!

Yeah, I’ve had one wedding nightmare so far. All of a sudden it was our wedding day, but nothing was done, so we couldn’t get married. Also, apparently we were getting married inside this underground basement/bomb shelter/bunker thing. (Post-apocalyptic wedding syndrome?) Then, we decided to elope, and traveled to this tall glass skyscraper of a city hall. But I lost my FI on the kiddie train we were supposed to take to get to the right floor of the skyscraper. In high school, my friends called my dreams “crack dreams.” Apparently little has changed.

I also had the dream of not having enough to get ready for the ceremony. My hair was dripping wet, and I was hoping no one would notice.

sounds like you’re a vivid nightmarer like me. ;)

i had similar dreams the most vivid of which was one where my color scheme was lime green - the chiffon covering the reception, my dress, the decor, everything oh my!

I had a nightmare about the wedding being in an hour, and the reception was going to be in my high school bedroom in my parents’ house, but it was a mess! I was frantically trying to shove everything into the closet while everyone was getting in place outside. Then I remembered that I had forgotten to order the bridesmaids’ gifts. There was more, but it just gets weird after that.

You need therapy.

[Please note heavy sarcasm. (Too soon?)]

I had a really detailed one a few months ago that now I can’t remember, but I think there were zombies involved. That, and I realized the day of that we’d never gotten a license. OOps.

I think it’s just our minds way of preparing us for the emotional rollercoaster and the fact that things will go wrong, so that the day of we take it in stride. Unless you forget to get a license, then you’re screwed.

I’m sorry, whenever I hear dreams I just can’t help but just interpret them. This might not be accurate but this is what I believe based on your dream. [Note: I am not a professional. Entertainment purposes only.]

Wedding day is supposed to be one of the happiest day of your life, so you think you will be happy but because you’re in a glass house, you are afraid of the change in your life because of marriage. Are you a bit nervous about being the center of attention? Just a thought because a glass house could mean you might be afraid of people watching you and making a stumble, maybe? However, you are afraid of what others might think or see you as which is eveident because the guests are seeing you get dressed. Might you be afraid of showing too much emotion?

Maybe you want things to go perfect, who doesn’t want close to perfection on their wedding? But you’re afraid things might go wrong (ie. makeup artist and hair stylist not showing up)

You might also be afraid that people will compare your wedding to someone else’s wedding and that you might come up short.

Making out with someone else show that you might be experiencing some cold feet or that you might be feeling a lack or romance with your fiance, maybe you are both so busy that you are missing the adventure and spice of before.

Yea, sorry if this was like WTF, absolutely off. But it was fun for me to analyze your dream, I hope you don’t take offense to this.

elizabeth - some of what you said is right on, but other things, not so much :)

definitely the comparing my wedding to someone else’s is ringing a bell and the pressure to make everything perfect is CERTAINLY a factor… I really do feel that for some reason, people are just waiting for me to fail and talk trash about my wedding if everything doesnt go according to plan - silly, i know, but the pressure is definitely on.

thanks for sharing though! it was very entertaining :)
