We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!
About Mrs. Kiwi

She Likes It, She Really Likes It!

May 4th, 2007 @ 5:22 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

Yesterday I received an email from our flower girl’s mother, saying she bribed her daughter to put on the dress. Why bribed? Well, our flower girl has never been a flouncy, taffeta loving girly-girl. She’d much rather get in the mud and make you a tasty mud and rollie pollie pie. After eating dirt the first years of my life, I can identify with this.

Luckily, after she put the dress on, she did a four-year old’s version of a pirouette - something her mother said she’s never done before. Apparently, our FG seems to notice that this isn’t your every day scratchy dress, this one is SPECIAL. And so she feels special IN it! Noticing her daughter’s joy in wearing this dress, she had FG try on her dress up “Cinderella” dress, and asked her which dress she liked better. Our FG exclaimed, “The wedding dress!”

I am so glad to know that she’ll be happy in this dress. I’m also thrilled that we have such a sweet little girl who will walk before me down the aisle. I’ll make sure there are some mud pies and bug pictures for her to color, at the end of the aisle.

How are your ring bearers/flower girls reacting to their “job”?

Our FG (pre-school) LOOOOOOOVED it and talked about it for months. Her mother got a lot of mileage out of getting her to behave and be a big girl so she could be the FG.

Now there are a bunch of family weddings in a row and she thinks every lady in the family gets to take a turn at being the bride for the big show. She’s happy to re-wear the dress to attend these other weddings. And she doesn’t say “bride,” only “beautifulbride.”

Our FG is 4 and everytime we see her she asks if we’ve had the wedding yet. We keep telling her she won’t miss it and she gets excited all over again.

When I first asked her if she would be my flower girl she said “Yes, but, (insert overly dramatic 4 year old sigh) I don’t know where any of my wedding stuff is!” Cracked me up!

i had one instance that the flower girl agreed initially…she was only 4 years old

but when the door opened for the wedding couple to enter the hall

she ran away…

guess the crowd and the number of guests could have frightened her…

interesting

but the wedding has to go on

i think it is ok as long as everything goes well….

ended up for that day, there is no flowergirl…

:)

We are having two FGs, one of which is my five-year-old niece. When we went shopping for FG dresses, my niece promptly told me, “We have the find the perfect flower dress for me.” I think this day is as special to her as it is to me!

Our RB is loving his job! He keeps telling people, “I’m going to be a ring bearer in a wedding, and there’s TWO flowergirls!” with a big cheesy grin on his face. He thinks he’s hot stuff!!

heh that’s so cute.

the other day my cousin called and her daughter is my FG. and when my cousin told her daughter that my wedding was in three weeks her daughter said “And I’m the Flower Girl right?”

which was just too cute to me. i think she will love the job. she loves being photographed and she has this dazzling smile and loves attention.

and, when she puts on her dress, she does this swaying and smiles becuase she knows she looks pretty.
