I love photography in general. Before planning my wedding I was really interested in photography, taking several photography classes during high school and learning how to take portraits and scenic shots. I really enjoy taking photos of flowers and nature, especially close-ups with a macro lens to capture all the fine details and beauty I see within a beautiful flower’s structure. I also learned there’s so much you can do with photography - I love how one subject can look so different from so many angles and viewpoints.

When it came to finding a wedding photographer, I really wanted someone who could capture our wedding using rich, vibrant colors, taking shots from various dramatic angles. The best source I found for wedding photographers is the WPJA website, which is where I discovered our wedding photographer Nicole Polk. She is amazing, I love how every picture she takes is very unique and very dramatic. Here are some great examples:

I love the contrast in these photos.

Also, check out how she took the photo of the bride from above looking down as the hairdresser was doing her hair.

These photos are from a wedding in California where Nicole Polk second shot with Leigh Miller.

All photographers have a style of their own. One thing we wanted to avoid is to have a photographer who took shots for a wedding that always look the same. I remember there were several photographers who had portfolios of weddings that looked exactly the same. Different weddings but same way of taking photos of the wedding dress, the bride, the ceremony, etc. You kind of know what to expect with a photographer that is like that.
Our photographer has a more modern take on wedding photography and every wedding she shot looked unique and amazing. I guess everyone prefers a different style and that’s why there are so many photographers out there.
