Hair & Makeup Trial

May 7th, 2007 @ 1:28 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

I had my first and perhaps final hair/makeup trial this weekend with Philadelphia stylist Cali from Calista Brides. I guess it’s kind of late to have a hair trial, but I was waiting for my hair comb and earrings to come in so I could see how everything looked together. I was a little nervous to schedule the trial so late. I mean, I noticed several girls doing like 3-4 hair trials!? What was I thinking? Well, luckily the trial went quite well and here are the two updos she created:

Updo #1

Here’s the 2nd updo. It’s gorgeous but I don’t think it’s me. I feel like the “Bride of Frankentstein” with this updo. But I do love how the hair comb sits at the top of the curls.

I gotta say I love the makeup the most. I never thought anyone could make my eyes look smoky! It’s a cool effect and I love the lipstick color, too.

So I’m still debating which hairstyle I should go with. Which do you think looks better? Updo #1 or #2?

I love both styles! If you are having a more formal wedding, I would go with the second one. If your wedding is more laid back, I would go with the first one.

it actually looks like #2 will stay longer than #1! and #2 looks very chic & different where #1 looks like a style I’ve seen everywhere. and you look great!!

LOVE #2, you may feel bride of frankenstein, but look gorgeous! And, if it’s a little out of character, I think that’s good–it’s something different and dramatic for what friends and family are used to seeing. :-)

I agree. I love #2 and if you’re having a formal evening wedding it’s perfect, if you want to go more laidback though #1 is still gorgeous. I just love the volume on your second hairstyle. btw I love the hair pin!

do you have a frontal shot of do#1 so we could do a side-by-side comparison? the frontal of do#2 (the outside pic) is awesome…

Oooooh! They are both so pretty! I like #2 best but I think that if you aren’t happy/comfortable with it you might worry about it all day. If that is the case then go with #1 just so that you won’t be distracted by it. They are both beautiful so I don’t think you can make a wrong choice here. Love the comb and earings too!

I love #2 too, but don’t feel pressured into choosing that one if you’re not comfortable with it. Your wedding day should reflect you and your style! Both are beautiful choices btw.

both styles look great and the accessories are fabulous! i’d suggest not having the hair pin right on top of your head. it’s so beautiful but you don’t really see it in all it’s splendor and i don’t think you’ll get many pictures of the top of your head. just a suggestion!

If that many people are going to be staring at the back of your head for that long, I would want the more sleek and controlled look of 2. But yes, as previous folks have said, it’s completely your call!

Also like #2. If by “bride of Frankenstein” you mean it’s too tall (or too tall for your groom) maybe it could be a little flatter on top?

Love the rich lipstick shade.

Hi - where did you get the earrings from? I LOVE them.

hmmm are you set on getting an updo? i think you would look nice with a half up half down…it would look less formal. that way you could also have the hair comb on the side, with the part that is up.

I think both look great..maybe the final decision can be made depending on your gown?

I love #2! It sounds like you were happy with the stylist — I haven’t even started looking for one yet for my Philly wedding, so I will have to keep her in mind. And echoing the multiple other commenters, I would love to know where you found your hair comb — it is gorgeous.

I say go with #2. I would go with smaller earrings or no earrings at all. They’re too distracting.

Say, when is one of the bees going to show us an updo a la Wedding Bee Bride (a/k/a the Wilma Flintstone)?

Agree w/ what ocicats said — maybe the big hair ornament OR the big earrings, instead of both?

I like the first one better. Maybe i like the less sculptored look - more loose.

You have a thin heart shaped face so I would like a shorter drop earring for you. Those seem to weigh down your face.

Preetty hairpin!

The hair comb and earrings are made by Regina B. I think I’ll still keep the earrings because they are actually clip-ons and no one has ever seen me with earrings on before! It would be a nice surprise.

I like both hairstyles, but i feel like both of your earrings are way too big for your small face. It takes away from your face. I love your hair pin but let people see it by placing it in a more visable area.

#2. it looks more put together n looks like it will stay on longer. i think your earrings are beautiful but i also agree with Sandyu.

thanks for all the compliments and opinions! i think i still prefer updo #1 because i like a looser, more modern updo style. it also goes well with my wedding dress which has a contemporary mermaid style. thanks again!
