The Return of Gocco!

May 8th, 2007 @ 6:29 pm by Mrs. Lemon

Rejoice my fellow craftees!! The wait is over….the trade embargo has been lifted…or rather some super cool US retailer took a basic economics course and realized that there was a huge (black) market for the Print Gocco and that they could profit highly from the overwhelming demand…

News from the Save Gocco website:

March 29, 2007:

I’ve spoken to a reliable source at the certain u.s. retail chain mentioned below, who has confirmed they have worked out a deal with riso japan to import b-6 or b-6 compatible machines and supplies to the u.s. for their own stores. some of the supplies have already arrived at their warehouse, and they hope to roll out the complete system, classes and a media campaign this summer. until everything is in place, they prefer not to be identified.

Now, I bought my Gocco b-6 at Dick Blick about three years ago for $115 and most eBay prices today aren’t too much higher than that…so if you need one tomorrow then go for it! However, the fact that there will be a constant supply of inks/bulbs/screens is music to my ears and may convince others to invest in something that definitely isn’t going away!

When I edited this post, I thought it was about some kind of ethnic food. Now I realize I may very well need one of these fancy things. Dang you, Miss Lemon!

Gosh. Ever since I found out what a Gocco was, I’ve wanted one. It’s been a couple years, and I still haven’t justified the purchase of one. :(

Pre-Weddingbee I’d never even heard of this. Now I’m the high bidder on one on eBay. Darn you, Weddingbee!

Ah Ms Lemon, how you’ve made my life better through Gocco! I’m very happy to hear that someone finally figured out there is a market in keeping this alive (not that we want everyone in on the secret…)

What awesome news! I paid a ridiculous amount of money for a Gocco on ebay but haven’t used it yet. I was really worried that by the time I got the hang of it, I wouldn’t be able to find supplies. Now I can’t make anymore excuses…
