Marriage License Experience

May 9th, 2007 @ 2:00 pm by Mrs. Apple

We’re married! Well sort of. We’re just missing a few more signatures, the ceremony, and off our certificate goes to the court house. So our marriage license experience wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I’ve heard horror stories of having to wait in long lines, but I guess we lucked out - living in a small suburb has its perks sometimes. Really friendly clerks, no lines, and no parking fees. We were the only ones in line and it took about 10 minutes max. It was so weird seeing our names on a Marriage Certificate. We both smiled and giggled at each other when we saw our names printed on the documents. I brought my little digi camera just so I could document this moment. We’re getting married! We asked one of the security officers to take a photo of us and he said, “What a great idea! You’ll definitely want to look at this photo again in 10 or 20 years!”

We haven’t gotten ours yet because it’s not time to but I LOVE that you took a picture of the two of you. I completely agree with the security officer. It will be fun to look at down the road!

We are [possibly stupidly] waiting until THE last minute to get our license, since the wedding’s in another state. We’re driving up on the Monday prior, applying for the license the Tuesday prior, waiting three days, and picking it up on Friday for a Saturday wedding. Potential for disaster: high.

Oh wow, what a coincedence! I just picked ours up today too! We waited our three days…and on the day of the security officer joked to my FI that he had three days to change his mind. It didn’t help that we were both off to the airport to go to Las Vegas(FI) and Miami(me). But I laughed! Heeheehee!
So I picked it up by myself today(and paid the $28 in CASH on my own) and now I wished I didn’t. I love that picture! It would have been nice to have a similar one ourselves.

That’s funny, I had almost the exact same experience. We went to the Beverly Hills courthouse 10 minutes before lunch was over, we were 2nd in line and we were called for our license 20 minutes later.

Nice service, sweet women. Fast processing, and we too got someone to take our picture with my fiance’s camera phone. Fortunately someone at work advised me to do so minutes before I left, otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have done it. I’m glad we did.

It’s exciting :)
