About Mrs. Pumpkin

Mr. Punkin’ and I both only have 1 living grandparent each, both maternal Grandmas, so I wanted to give them a small gift to let them know how much we love them and how grateful we are that they are able to celebrate our wedding day with us. Unfortunately due to my Grandma’s recent heart attack and surgery we are not sure if she will be able to make the trip to the wedding anymore (I went up to Prince Albert to see her last week for a couple of days and she is doing much better but is still pretty weak). But if not, we will send this up to her with some matching flowers and hopefully she will still feel a part of the day with us!

Anyhow, back to the gifts. Since almost every one of our guests are traveling to the wedding, we have decided to spend the money that we would have spent on OOT bags to make the meal at the reception a little nicer instead. Only the grandmothers will get welcome bags in their hotel rooms. I wanted to give them a couple of items to make their stay more comfortable so we are putting in some nice cookies and sweets, tea cups and tea, some fuzzy slippers, some small cherry blossom bath items from Bath & Body Works (to stick with our theme) and then the piece de resistance is a monogrammed handkerchief from White Aisle.

I plan on putting everything into one of these personalized bags from Name Maker.

But the handkerchief will go in one of these brown pillow boxes with some ribbon and one of our personalized labels from Karen Smallbone.

I think the Grandmoms will really like getting a little surprise in their hotel room. OOT bags are not very popular in my neck of the woods, so I am pretty sure that they will never have seen anything like this before.

Are you doing anything different with your OOT bags to honour Grandparents or other special guests that is above and beyond what you will do for your other guests’ OOT bags?

I did personalize my OOT bags for certain people. I had a December wedding so my bags were wintry and included besides all the info, lots of food, hot cocoa, personalized mints and cookies and so on…
My husband’s Mom and Dad are diabetic so we made special bags for them with sugar free candy, sweeteners, etc. I had 2 couples with new babies and toddlers so I made sure I put some baby finger foods, a bib and some little toys and things in theirs.
The only other special things I did was for my bridal party we did the LL Bean totes with their names and included all the OOT town stuff along with personal itineraries and their gifts, jewelry and some gloves I had got them(It was VERY chilly!)
