Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!
About Mrs. Kiwi

Kiss The Girl

May 10th, 2007 @ 2:05 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

I am a closet music sap. My iPod is filled with songs like, “I Swear” by All-4-One, and Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On”. My heart swells when I hear “The One” by Elton John. Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” makes me smile. A lot of these songs are on a few “Worst Ballads of All Time” lists (for some people), but I don’t care! Still, my love for the cheese has kind of extended to a song that I want as our first dance song.

I had mentioned previously about wanting a Disney song for our first dance, and that idea is still in the works. As I was sitting here listening to my iPod and “working”, a Disney song came on. Hearing it made me smile, and also made my stomach do a little flip. What the heck? I’m feeling “hearty” feelings for a Disney song? Not even one of the usual songs by the Mouse, this one is “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid.

The song is short, to save the guests (and my pride) from the terrible sight of my dancing. Other perks of the song, it’s my favorite Disney movie, it’s cute, and it gives me a chance to get kissed on by Mr. Kiwi. As well as the version on the Little Mermaid soundtrack (by Samuel Wright), there are versions by Ashley Tisdale, Vitamin C, and Steve Tyrell. Out of all the versions, I must say that I really love the soundtrack version. I’m not sure why, but I love it.

So, do you think a soundtrack version of this song would be a bad choice? It’s two minutes and forty-three seconds long, compared to the three and a half versions by the regular singers.

I think “Kiss the Girl” would be lovely — it’s actually a rhumba/rumba beat, so if you wanted to, you could even learn a few little dance moves to it.

If you really want to go over the top, there’s always “Bella Notte” from Lady & The Tramp.

A little advance planning to coordinate some dance steps (I like Ruby’s rhumba suggestion) would be priceless — very precious and fun, and your guests would love it, even the kids.

I love the idea. I was actually thinking of it myself since my fiance and I will be kissing for the first time the day we get married. ;-)

I spent a few hours one night researching Disney love songs, then downloaded the ones I hadn’t heard before. Originally I was thinking about “So This is Love” from Cinderella, but I listened again and I don’t think it will work. I say go for it fo sho!

ooo I love it, my FI and I are doing the Elton John song from the Lion King (Can you feel the love tonight) for our first dance, I’m trying to decide if I want to do a shorter version off the soundtrack as well.
