About Mrs. Plumeria

Master Procrastinator

May 10th, 2007 @ 2:32 pm by Mrs. Plumeria

So, even as I race to complete everything on my to-do list, there have been tons of things I realize that I’ve missed. Among those forgotten tasks is choosing what to wear to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. And then, the realization that I don’t have anything that I really want to wear to those events slowly dawned. Did I really need to buy a dress for these? I decided that, necessary or not, I just wanted to. :-P

And so I dragged myself out to the mall after work yesterday and poked around Macy’s for a little bit. I’m about as petite as you can get, and at this point I really needed something that would fit perfectly without any alterations. No such luck at the big department store. Where to next? I stepped into my favorite store (I must admit I shop the clearance rack more than the regularly-priced section ;-) ), Ann Taylor, and was not disappointed.

I had seen this off-white linen dress, embroidered with dainty navy vines, earlier in numerous ads, but had found the price a little steep, though I loved it. And lo and behold, sitting off to the side in the petites section, the very dress, in my size, marked 50% off! In this case, procrastination definitely paid off. ;-) Hehe.

If I wasn’t already a huge Ann Taylor fan, I would be now — they have consistently supplied me with nicely tailored clothes in my size, just when I need it most. And of course, they have regular sizes, too. Here are some other nice dress picks from them, aside from their Celebrations line, for other all-important events leading up to the wedding:

Ann Taylor is my favorite store too, by far! And same as you, I’m a petite girl, and have also found their clothes to be great fitting. Ann Taylor Loft has some great, somewhat less expensive finds also. It’s where I found my rehearsal dinner dress.

One of the reasons my fiance will agree to go shopping with me is I really do just walk in the store, pick over the sale rack, and usually leave. But the last time I went to Ann Taylor Loft, he had to make use of what I call the “husband chair,” while I tried on I think five things. Ann Taylor, Talbots, J Jill, and Chico’s are my big stores for sale-rack-snooping. I’m not willing to pay full price for it, but it’s well-made, classic styling that can get a lot of wear.

O yeah, I forgot about the Loft. There’s not one super close to me though, so I think I tend to go to the regular store more. There’s also the outlet! :) I have found some really great bargains there. And yes, I love the clothes because I feel like I’ll be able to wear the style for a very long time!

Ooh, Ann Taylor is great! I just bought a white suit from them for the rehearsal dinner…I sooo wanted to wear a skirt becasue I practically live at Anthropologie and I LOVE their skirts and dresses..but FI really thought I looked good in a white suit after returning with a tan from Miami this weekend. :-)

I love Ann Taylor and LOFT. I love the length of the skirts and dresses and most of them let you wear a bra underneath… few string straps. Hurray for a big selection of petite dresses! I’ll be going there first when searching for an engagement party dress.

Ann taylor is also the only place I can buy dress pants for work that fit me because they have short sizes.

Isn’t it funny how an all-black or all-white dress is iffy for a guest to wear to a wedding, but a busy black-and-white combo dress seems just right?

Hey fellow Ann Taylor and Loft lovers - I just re-bought my rehearsal dinner dress for 50% off today (I’ll return the other one tomorrow), and THEN got 50% off on some already on-sale sandals. All in all, I got great shoes and a great dress for about $30 less than the dress was at its original price!! SCORE!! II did all of this online, as I have no AT or Loft within an hour, and they are so wonderfully consistent in their sizing. hope that all made sense… the point of the post was that they are having great sales right now and free shipping! Love it!

Yay! I love ann taylor and ann taylor loft! I’m petite, and I used to hate shopping for pants, skirts, and dresses. Petite sizes at other stores were still too long, but these two stores fit me perfectly!

I bought a new dress yesterday too! Though mine is more summery and will work better as our wedding shower dress :)

Hehe, there’s something so fun about buying dresses. Maybe it’s because I always feel pretty whenever I wear a dress (which is not often). Anyway, I’m really happy that I got Ann Taylor dress for the rehearsal.. and then I get to wear the wedding dress!! I guess it’ll be a “pretty” weekend. :)
