The site is back up!
We still don’t know exactly what happened. The site stopped working last night, and nothing had changed! BIL Bee and I called and called our web host, and they said they had to wait til morning for their techies to come in. Didn’t they realize that Weddingbee was down?!?!
Finally this morning we gave up on our webhosts and dug into the issue ourselves (i.e. started Googling). And it turned out that other WordPress users have been having the same issue! Something about the caching engine suddenly stopping working, and throwing a “500 Internal Server Error”. So we turned off caching, and the site seems to work again?
It remains to be seen how the site will hold up without caching on. It may get slower as the day goes on. We’ve upgraded to a more expensive hosting plan, to get more database capacity while we figure out how to get caching back on. I hope the database can hold up to the traffic load today!
