Site Downtime

May 10th, 2007 @ 10:47 am by Mr. Bee

The site is back up!

We still don’t know exactly what happened. The site stopped working last night, and nothing had changed! BIL Bee and I called and called our web host, and they said they had to wait til morning for their techies to come in. Didn’t they realize that Weddingbee was down?!?!

Finally this morning we gave up on our webhosts and dug into the issue ourselves (i.e. started Googling). And it turned out that other Wordpress users have been having the same issue! Something about the caching engine suddenly stopping working, and throwing a “500 Internal Server Error”. So we turned off caching, and the site seems to work again?

It remains to be seen how the site will hold up without caching on. It may get slower as the day goes on. We’ve upgraded to a more expensive hosting plan, to get more database capacity while we figure out how to get caching back on. I hope the database can hold up to the traffic load today!

I’m sorry about the downtime last night. icon_sad.gif Please let us know how the site is holding up for you in your neck of the woods?

I was working late last night and had some time to kill while I waited for some items and thought “perfect, I can read weddingbee”. I was horrified to see it down!!! I know how that feels when a site suddenly just shuts down for no reason. Well it’s running nicely right now. Good luck.

Haha… you never know how much something means to you til it’s gone. I was so sad yesterday when I couldn’t catch up on posts during breaks from doing last-minute wedding stuff. :) But today, here in sunny CA, it seems I won’t have to find something else to divert my attention. Thanks Mr. Bee!

Today sometimes the number of comments showing (before clicking on the link to see the comments) reads as “0″ or otherwise too low.
