Sneak Peek of My Qipao…

May 14th, 2007 @ 12:21 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

I had my qipao fitting last weekend and here’s a little sneak peek of the dress so far:

I love the floral pattern for this dress. Since I’m pretty tall, I chose a large floral design - I love the green and golden accents. Here’s the side view of the dress:

Here are my shoes that match the dress, I found them at Nordstrom:

I got this dress custom made by a tailor who owns a shop at the Flushing Mall. He’s amazing, he must have taken measurements of every inch of my body from the height of my torso to the width of my shoulders. He’s very professional and I love his work so far. He laughed when I asked if he could design my wedding gown too! Why not?! His work is amazing and the dress literally fits like a glove.

I LOVE the print!! But I thought it was supposed to have phoenixes or dragons on it or something like that…? Thats what my future-MIL told me. Otherwise I would love to have something like that too!

I love the peony print and what a nice deep rich red. It fits perfectly. Bravo on finding matching shoes! Red is hard to match.

these days, pretty much anything goes for qipao, including western fabrics (in fact, in toronto, too traditional a brocade pattern apparently might give people the impression of off the rack mall purchase, giggles my mom,) though for a bride, just not an excessively sombre colour. mine will be sorta teal, a little greener than peacock blue. apparently blue would have been bad, but blue-green, is okay :P

If you don’t mind, can you disclose the cost of the dress?

I actually wanted a phoenix/dragon design but my fiance’s mom said that I won’t be able to use this dress in the future for some formal event knowing the dress is for a wedding. I guess I could use this for a special occasion..
