He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. And to preface any questions: they are completely homemade, they did take a lot of time and effort, they weighed 4 oz (pricey for USPS, but worth it) and they cost around $2 each to make including both envelopes. I’ll have a complete write-up on the cost breakdown later this week along with some helpful gocco tips!

I mentioned fabric covered invites to my FI months ago and he was afraid they’d look to “crafty”. I’m going to show him these pictures and I’m sure I can change his mind. Have you posted the how-to? Can you? I’m trying to figure out if you wrapped cardstock in fabric and attached with additional fabric or…?

So pretty! I love the colors they remind me of a small town in France!

great job! i’m also gocco’ing my invites but haven’t started to play around with it yet…did you print out or photocopy your text for the invite to make your master screens? there’s a blue filter you need to use in order to make the master right? just not sure if printing it out or photocopying the text makes a difference…

Simply AMAZING! I am glad to see another bride with fabric pocketfolds! Can’t wait to hear more about the process.

I look forward to hearing more about this gocco…and please explain what it is and how it’s better/different from a printer. ;-) I am just intrigued.

I don’t think there’s been a bride who has put a ton of effort into an aspect of her wedding to say, “eh, not worth it.” It’s refreshing to hear someone say yes, it took a lot of time but I would do it again!

2 per invite? That doesn’t actually seem like that much…?

They look wonderful! I especially love the fabric covers! Do you have an embroidery machine? And I am really looking forward to your gocco tips, because I bought one and want to use it for my programs and menus, but I am still a little intimidated by it.

15.
Iris says:

What kind of machine did you use to sew the initials and rose?

16.
Miss Lemon says:

I used an embroidery sewing machine to sew our monogram & motif on the covers. It’s a home machine that hooks up to your laptop. :)

As for the advantage of gocco… well, there’s no way I could have printed gold pigmented ink on the invites without it :) It’s essentially a personal home screen printing kit in the form of a stamp. Hopefully my posts this week will clear it up a bit.

I’ll also explain the process I used to make the pocketfolds. I did use 4 pieces of tagboard for each one instead of wrapping the fabric, since I wanted both blue & gold.

Gorgeous, i love the invites, and the RSVP cards are brilliant.

What did you do with extra blanks by the way so that people didn’t add guests?

I can’t wait to find out how these were made!!!

They are wonderful. Many congratulations on your nimble fingers and the oodles of patience that must have been required to get through them all. How satisfying to have created such a masterpiece. Martha would be proud.

Did you get the pocketfold from http://www.cardsandpocketsstore.com? I am considering them? If you did, how were they, customer-service wise?
