Just a small update on my previous, somewhat controversial post on my surprise bachelorette party. First off, I just wanted to say that my last post on this subject obviously wasn’t written very well, because the fact that I was ABSOLUTELY honoured and very grateful that my MOH wanted to plan this party for me was somehow lost. I was always very happy that this party was being planned in my honour, all the post was supposed to convey was that it just threw me for a bit of a loop. I just wasn’t expecting it. So, I am sorry if I disappointed anyone with what appeared to be a flippant attitude about the party. That was not my intention at all.
Whew! Now that that’s cleared up, we can move on to the fun details! I still don’t know very much about the party, but as most of you predicted, if I was patient, my MOH would slowly slip the details out to me (because she absolutely knows that I am not a fan of surprises!) and I would start to get more and more excited about the party. So this is what I know for sure:
1. It is a joint party with Mr. Pumpkin! I am not sure if it is quite in the Buck & Doe tradition that I talked about in the comments of my post on Groom’s Showers, but I do know that this is both Mr. Pumpkin’s Stag and my Stagette rolled into one.
2. Our parents are invited! This is so funny to me but I absolutely love it!
3. I think that there may be some sort of Newlywed Game played at this party. My MOH keeps asking me random things like which of Mr. Pumpkin’s crops I think is the sexiest and which one of us is the biggest Pearl Jam fan.
For the record, I said that durham wheat was the sexiest crop because it reminded me of Bull Durham and that is a sexy movie in my opinion. Lentils remind me too much of that Barbara Streisand movie Yentl where she plays a girl who dresses up as a boy for some reason (did I get that right?) and sings that “Papa, can you hear me?” song and that flax (even though it actually rhymes with Mr. Pumpkin’s last name) reminds me of bread that my Dad eats because it is rich in fibre - soooo not sexy.
And, of course, I am the biggest Pearl Jam fan because I listened to them from the beginning of Ten. Mr. Pumpkin only started listening at Vs. and, because they only had three TV channels at the farm, he had never seen a Pearl Jam video until he met me - a fact that I am sure he will say is circumstantial and should not be held against him but to that I say that if he were as big a fan as I was then he would have found a way…
Now I am super excited for the party! My MOH says that the rest will probably remain a secret (although she is powerless against my investigatory journalism skills) but that she will tell me what to wear, so now I am totally comfortable with whatever comes my way. Mr. Pumpkin and I are also both so happy that it is a joint party. We are just not go-out-and-get-smashed kinds of people anymore and so having it together takes away a bit of that “let’s buy Mr. Pumpkin 30 shots of Jager and see if he can still walk” kind of thinking. I think that we will both have a blast!
Is anyone else having a joint bachelor/bachelorette party? Are your parents invited to your parties, either separate or joint?
