He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. Get Your Drink On

May 15th, 2007 @ 6:14 pm by Mrs. Lemon

Mr. Lemon and I have a quirky sense of consumerism…and we really should just start a business where we get paid to try out new products since we pretty much do so on a regular basis. Our favorite “fun” purchase to make seems to be new beverages… so on that note I figured that we should give out some sort of soda for our rehearsal dinner favors. I really liked the idea of the MyJones sodas, but Mr. Lemon didn’t like the idea of having just one photo, so we improvised and bought normal Jones soda and did it on our own:

(That’s a picture of my MOH and I at the NCAA West Regionals)

The plan is to have half of the bottles with our new last name and half with my current last name (since it IS kind of the last night I’ll have the name). Then 30 different photos of us on each bottle… which should be enough variety to talk about around the dinner table! The only catch is that I’ve been forbidden from using the cream soda flavor… since one exploded in Mr. Lemon’s super clean car in the Disneyland parking garage a few weeks ago. He’s leaning toward Fufuberry instead. :)

I forgot to note that this is the commemorative WeddingBee bottle ;)

Cool idea… and also, yikes! Because it did not occur to me that you are supposed to have favours for the rehearsal dinner! Is that typical or just something extra you’re doing for fun?

I’m not so DIY-savvy, so I have a few questions. Did you print on a sticker or just paper that you’re taping on? Are you using a template of some kind? If so, would you be willing to share? This is a really cute idea, and I think your results look fantastic!

That’s great. I love soda bottles. There’s almost something so retro about them. I have been debating if I should do regular plain water bottles or fruit20.

Oh and is Mr. Lemon also super neat freak about his car. So is Mr. Snows Pea. He’s wiping his car down for the 3rd time this week. Well, a few years ago, I spilled a quart hot and sour soup in his car!

We are doing these for the rehearsal dinner too! I was just going to do the custom route through jones and pick them up since they are located in Seattle. How did you do it yourself? :)

I love the Idea. Can you give me directions to how to make them?

Thanks

Miss Lemon says:

Laura - It’s completely a big “extra” just like normal favors… :)

jlb07 - it’s just glossy paper glued onto the bottle with ZOTS. Unfortunately the template can’t be “shared” due to the need to have the fonts on your computer to edit it :(

Miss SP - he’s selectively crazy. I have a feeling that once we have a driveway and our own garage it’ll kick into full gear

Miss Strawberry - I designed a template from the original Jones label and then printed them out. It was an ambitious “let’s see if I can do that” project.

Tea - I just used regular glossy paper (purchased at Staples) and cut it to size. The label width is 8.5″ so it’s quite easy to print multiples.

Lea - I essentially just designed the label on Illustrator. I used the Jones label dimensions and created my own version.

Hi! This may be a silly question, but is your last name actually going to be Lemon or is that just to cover your real married name?

The reason I’m asking is because my married name will be Lemons. :)

Very clever. I had looked into the custom label option through Jones soda. I know there are some waterproof bottle labels out there. I wonder, if printed on a laser printer, if the labels will hold up when the bottles are stored in ice tubs.

I Love Fufuberry! Probably the best Jones Soda favor! How cute to have Jones Sodas in your wedding colors!

Fabulous idea!! I think I’m going to steal this and use customized soda bottles as vases for my centerpieces. Thanx a bunch!!

This is such a great idea! I just found your page while doing a search for a Jones Soda label template. How did you get the font for the “Lemon” text? Was there a specific font you used or did you have to create the letters yourself?
