Title Font Update

May 15th, 2007 @ 5:01 pm by Mrs. Bee

Many of you didn’t like the scrolly font we’re using in our titles, so please check out this rendition with a clean, plain font, and let us know if you like it better! :)

The old scrolly font is on the left, and the new clean font is on the right.

TOTALLY better!! I don’t know what it is, but the new format seems very “ad friendly”. I think the fact that the different segments are all in white, and the background is green makes it look like the blog area is a bit smaller.

The new font is better, though.

scrolly font is cuter as long as it’s not overused (then it becomes too much).

I vote for plain b/c 1) it’s easier to read, and 2) it doesn’t run the risk of “diluting” the WeddingBee logo by visually competing with a different fancy font.

Now that I look carefully, there are already a lot of different fonts (styles, sizes, colors) on the page; no need to distract with an additional fancy font that adds nothing to the brand/style of the logo.

The scrolly one is just the wrong time period. It doesn’t flow with the site. I find it awkward. I prefer the sans serif.

I like the idea of the scrolly font, but I agree, it just doesn’t match. How about using the same font as used in weddingbee?

The clean font looks more sophisticated.

I think you should re-do the whole thing in comic sans. ;)

I agree that this new rendition seems to make the ads stand out more. Not sure if this was what was intended. I like the clean font better too!

Clean font. I was just thinking that too.

i like the clean font better between the two…but i do think a different kind of cute/curly font could work as well.

I don’t mind either one, but when you view an individual entry, the text in scrolly is definitely too long for the round cornered box for “Tags on this entry”

I think that’s the only heading where I definitely don’t like the scrolly.

I like the scrolly font except the wacky “s”

The “s” makes me vote for clean.

i like the clean one much better! the scrolly “s” is kinda crazy looking. also, this is just me but i wish the gray background of the site could possibly be in a different color? something more vibrant and bright to make the website and the weddingbee title pop out more to the readers.

I am with Miss Popcorn on the individual posts page. I’d probably like another script font that is not too fancy. The ’scrolly’ font is just awkward.

ms. bee, this green color is really muted. any way it could be brighter? like the old green color?

this green seems almost older….and not as young and fun as the old one.

I don’t like scrolly. Plain font is much easier to read. I agree with Miss Kiwi too. This new format feels…squished and claustrophobic. But..do what you gotta do to keep Weddingbee running! Keep up the good work Mrs. Bee!

I’m a fan of the scrolly actually. I guess I’m in the minority.

Clean!
I like “Weddingbee” scrolly - it’s part of the package. “Links” and other items are easier on the mental organizational eye to navigate in the cleaner font.

Bee,
It could be my resolution, but the “frame” doens’t take up 100% of my monitor. I like the wider middle content where the blogs are and push the ads further to the edges.

I prefer either the “clean” sans serif font, or a script font that matches the Weddingbee logo. The non-matching scrolly font looks odd.

i like the “idea” of scrolly but that one doesn’t seem to work…and it’s hard to read. So I’d prefer clean.
