About Beehive

Beehive

May 17th, 2007 @ 4:09 pm by Beehive

In today’s hive:

  1. MK would love recommendations for florists and photographers in LA who are priced mid-range.
  2. Eileen would like advice on how to get vendors to call her back without pestering them. Her florist, MC, and coordinator have all been lax in communicating with her, and it’s getting close to her wedding.
  3. janie would like to find a great calligraphy software program. Suggestions?
  4. gemini is looking for a less expensive version of this necklace or of this one. Can anyone help her out?
  5. Can anyone tell Jessica where to buy origami paper in bulk?
  6. SJ is looking for glass votive candle holders, votive candles, and pillar candles. Anyone know a reasonably priced website for these?

I am looking for (glass) votive candle holders, votive candles, and pillar candles. Does anyone know of any online company that sells them for cheap/reasonable price? Thanks in advance!

SJ: There are really good deals at http://www.cudge.net, http://www.save-on-crafts.com. I also heard about a few sites for candles, but haven’t checked them. They are http://www.paramold.com, http://www.candlesjustforme.com, and http://www.barnloftcandles.com. Also, just look for sales at places like Michaels and Target. I just bought 20 $1 6 or 7 inch votive holders from Target in their dollar section!

MK - I used Shirvan Flowers in Burbank. They were professional, reasonably-priced, and great to work with.

SJ - when is your wedding? Mine is June 16, and I’ll be back by June 30th. I have about 100 glass votive holders from Save on Crafts and they’re fantastic. I can sell them to you for cheaper than what I bought them for. I also have cylinder vases in different sizes and lanterns from ikea. Ikea also has great cheap candles.

let me know if you’d like my candle holders:

This might be an odd question, but I’ve been reading weddingbee for almost a year now and I still can’t seem to get down what all of the abreviations and acronyms mean! PLEASE fill me in!

DH? FI? Those are the main ones…but any others are welcome, too! :-) Thanks!

Gemini, you should check out chiccreation.com. They have a couple somewhat similar styles (to the first one at least), but better yet, they’re super affordable. I got my tiara and jewelry from there and they’re perfect!

Turtle,
My wedding is July 14th. I think I will need more than 100 votive glass holders. Let’s definitely keep in touch.

SJ–I got a fabulous deal on my votives off eBay. The seller was jerry6862001, I did a “best offer” on an auction and got 72 votives for a steal. Another good site no one mentioned is the Yes Supply Company: http://www.yessupplyco.com. I didn’t buy from them, but they have a lot of candle holders and vases and jars for very cheap.

I suggest candles4less.com. I got 12 dozen candles and votive holders for $87 plus shipping. Their customer service was great too!

Hi, I have a question. When the vendor says it’s an open bar, does that include mixed drinks as well? Has anyone gotten married at Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park, CA? One of the reception packages they have states “five hour hosted house bar” but they had the guests pay for mixed drinks. does this sound right?

Another question! My dad’s family is from England and I know that 90% of them will not come to the wedding, however, I still want to invite them because they are my family. Would it (and be honest pls!) be tacky if I did my real invitations and then sent them a cheaper, possibly DIY invitation? We are talking probably 50 people here that would not come to the wedding. Keep in mind postage overseas is more expensive too! Thanks!!

Does anyone know what the normal wait time is for a catering quote? We met, picked our food, talked everything out and still haven’t heard a price yet almost a week later. Is that normal? Thanks!

Andrea, it took almost two weeks to get my quote. I contacted her after a week… I love my caterer, but she’s tricky to get ahold of, and seems not to get annoyed when I bug her!

Sara: we have this concern too because my Fiance’s family is overseas. To save on postage we’re mailing all the invites to his aunt who will mail them out individually to the family. We’re sending them the real invites though because that’s at least one little ‘piece’ of the wedding they will be a part of
