Refreshing Refreshments!

May 17th, 2007 @ 5:31 pm by Mrs. Bee

To help your guests beat the heat at a summer wedding, especially if it’s outdoors, you may want to serve them cold refreshments as they arrive. Nothing cools you off better than a nice cold glass of iced tea or lemonade, so I’m sure your guests will appreciate this thoughtful, inexpensive touch.

Real Simple has several great recipes that put a twist on these classic summer beverages: Iced teas from top left: ginger & honey, pomegranate & lime, watermelon & basil, peach & mint; Lemonades: classic, ginger zinger, tropical, farmer’s lemon-mint cooler

Of course pre-ceremony beverages aren’t reserved only for summer weddings - you can do apple cider in the fall or hot chocolate in the winter. And you can never go wrong with water and alcohol. icon_wink1.gif

Are you planning on serving any pre-ceremony beverages?

We’re doing italian infusion jars one of pink lemonade and one of iced tea :) Thought it would be a nice touch for our outdoor ceremony.

Depending on how hot it is, we may or may not do pre-ceremony custom water bottles. We’re not planning on having a long ceremony though.

I wasn’t planning to til I read this! But I know how hot my church can get in the summertime, so this is a fantastic idea.

Ditto with melissa–it may be worth our while to put the “cocktail hour” jars out ahead of time. Thanks for the idea!

Pre-ceremony, just lots of water! We considered some lemonades/juices, but it truly won’t be *that* hot on July 7th in WA. :-)

I also was thinking of water bottles. It is outdoors so do they bring the bottles to their seats and then there are water bottles all over for photos, etc.?
