Reader Demographic Poll

May 17th, 2007 @ 2:44 pm by Mrs. Lovebug

Hey everyone! We thought we’d step up and answer the call for a demographic poll of our own since everyone found yesterday’s post about Weddingbee’s reader stats so interesting.

However, we’re having some techinical difficulty with our server today. And since polls tend to slow the site down, we’re setting this one up as a link right here.

We’re working on the site problem and hope to be back to warp speed momentarily. In the meantime, please hop on over and add your stats!

Oh, and since everyone seems to want to know how we actually measure up against Quantcast’s predictions, we used the exact same parameters. OK, get out your number two pencils!

Mrs. Bee says:

according to this site: http://anthro.palomar.edu/ethnicity/ethnic_5.htm

56.4% of the world’s population is asian. maybe that’s what accounts for large asian readership on wb! :)

Natalie says:

I hate to be picky, but like so many polls, I don’t quite fit in. I’m mixed, so I guess I’m supposed to choose other? Not sure how many of us hapa girls (and boys?) read this blog, but that might throw off your numbers if it’s a significant amount.

Sarah says:

Multiple boy bees! So, Matt the photographer and…who?!

Mrs. Bee says:

natalie, mr. bee is half too!

we talked about adding more ethnicity options, but then it got complicated and we wanted to see how our results would stack up to quantcast’s results. so far it seems a bit different! :)

Nicole says:

i would be interested in seeing how the results from the readers match up to the results of the bloggers.

also, household income could be looked at a few different ways. i filled it out for my FI and i because we live in the same house. but we are not the ones paying for most of the wedding. so which is more relevant - the income of the couple, or the imcome of whoever is paying for the wedding?

Miss Lovebug says:

Nicole: interesting point. I think what Quantcast is looking at (as are we) is who actually reads the site. After all, that’s the demographic we want consider when accepting sponsors, ads, etc.

AMK says:

I selected an income based on my own since I live alone, but then I wondered whether I should have included my fiance since we are paying for everything.

MJ says:

The “household” income caught me off guard too. But, if Miss Lovebug says those are the same parameters as Quantcast, then thems is the parameters! :-)

(I filled in household, we live together–I know, I know, the priest already told me, I’m going to h-e-double-l)

Nicole says:

MJ - I’ll be right there in hell with you - but I’m so incredibly glad we’ve already lived together.

Tea says:

natalie, i’m with you. i’m hapa too so i opted for other. lol, the mixed kids are always screwing up the data ;-)

a suggestion? as far as race goes, instead of the generic other, why not bi/multiracial? that’ll be a lot more specific than other. i understand wanting to know how the actual results stand up against quantcast, but maybe if you decide to do this again you can add that.
