What Happens When?

May 18th, 2007 @ 3:53 pm by Mrs. Blueberry

Oh, well, let me offer you a program so now you’ll know!

Here’s how we did them:
2 packs of parchment paper from WalMart– $10.00
2 packs of of sealing wax glue sticks from Michaels–$8.00
1 “H” monogram seal from Michaels–$2.00
6 spools of ribbon from WalMart–$9.00

Inside the program, we listed the following information:
Attendants/bridal party
Order of ceremony
“Always Present in our Hearts” (deceased family)

Since we wanted to keep the programs to one page, space was a valuable commodity. My dad used Publisher to create a three-column layout, with each of the three columns being a different width (to give us that off-center tri fold look). He then put the name layout on another document and we printed the paper on both sides. We used two fonts–the same two used on the STDs ad invites; Celeste and Copperplate Gothic Light.

The sealing wax glue sticks are a pretty cool little thing. They work in any old hot glue gun–you just squirt out the amount of wax you want, stamp in your seal, and go. The only problem we encountered was that it takes a long time to make each one. You squirt the wax out, then let it cool partially, then push in the seal, then let it cool some more, then remove the seal. And since I was holding the ribbon together at the same time, I spent a lot of time just sitting, with my hand keeping ribbon closed as wax cooled.

Glueing:

(see what I mean about using my fingers to keep the ribbon together?)

Mr. Blueberry cut all the ribbons for me:

(these were actually just the leftovers)

Here they are, finished, safe and sound for one week:

Are you having programs? What kind?

We are having square programs, I tell you! Square! As of this past Wednesday! Square booklets! This information will not change, so help me!

Too. Much. Thought. went into that. It was a bigger decision than the gown.

I am using Cranes Baronial Square Programs. Besides the program I am including the lyrics to our Hawaiian processional & recessional songs and our cocktail, dinner and dessert menus.

We were going to skip programs because it will just be a short civil ceremony and I couldn’t justify the cost, but I see that you made a whole basketful of pretty programs for $29. I’m impressed. Must reconsider…

I made itty-bitty ones - each page is 1/4 of an 8.5″x11″ paper, 6 pages. They came out cute, though, I think. Printed on cream cardstock, with a cover made of handmade flower paper, and bound with a ribbon.

I LOVE the seal on yours, though, Miss Blueberry. What a great idea!

How many pieces of parchment paper are in a pack? I was just curious because of the price… I have no idea how much that costs.

Thanks for sharing! I love the idea!

Angela–we’re meeting with our officiant this weekend for that precise reason. We’re doing the “celebration and blessing of marriage” straight out of the Book of Common Prayer, though, and that supplies nice headings for each of the sections. If you’re using an established “script,” there are probably headers throughout that could work; if you’re straying from the script or doing your own…make stuff up! The BCP headings include Welcome, Declaration of Concent, Presentation, Marriage, Prayers, Blessing of the Marriage, and Peace.

Those turned out great! I’m a little confused, though-parchment as in the color for stationery, or that cooking/baking paper (that was my first thought)?
