My Bridal Shower Cake

May 21st, 2007 @ 10:29 am by Mrs. Plum

Ok - I confess. I helped plan my own bridal shower this weekend… and it felt good. Call me a bit of a control freak, but I absolutely hate it when things are not organized and/or don’t have a definite plan/schedule - I get antsy, stressed, frustrated, you name it. I get that my bridesmaids have lives and other things to do, so I’ve been waiting for my sister to finish finals, which she did last week.

After a morning of shopping for the perfect bachelorette party dress, my sister and I dropped by one my all-time favorite bakeries, Le Gateau Cakery to place an order and pick the design. I already knew pretty much what I wanted - the exact same cake I ordered for my FI’s birthday but with a different look: their infamous oh-so-moist white cake with fresh strawberries inside (my sister’s addition). Yum yum (I’m drooling right now just thinking about it!).

Soooo, my sister and I walked in and I saw this fabulous new cake design they did sitting by the doors to the kitchen and I knew I had to have it! Here’s a sneak peek:

my version will be in my wedding colors - wedgwood blue and chocolate brown

Beautiful cake!!

I also helped plan my bridal shower, and I, too, am so glad I did. Things were a little out of control before I got involved, but it was also so exciting to see people’s reactions to things I’d helped plan.

That’s a gorgeous cake! I can’t wait to see it in your wedding colors. Sounds yummy too.

I am a control freak too but I think if I had helped in my shower, I could’ve prevented some of the troubles that arose.

Miss Kiwi - oooh noooo - mine will only be one layer (probably the next to the top layer)- we’re having a very intimate and small shower :)

How do they get it irridescent like that? Is that spun sugar?

Nice to hear I’m not the only control freak around. I told my MOH that she’s got full rein to plan my Bachelorette party in Vegas, that I will just show up and do whatever was planned but I keep finding myself butting in and checking on hotels, activities, and other details……. :-)
