Paper Flowers

I love the Paper Source Flower Kits - they are such a cute idea and I love how they feature tutorial videos on their website. The lady who stars in these “how to” videos is great and so easy to understand. She can also be hilarious and entertaining at times throughout the video! Anyway, so I wanted to buy one of the flower kits but they didn’t come in the colors I wanted and the prices for the kits were kind of high. I watched the “how to” video online and after watching the entire video, I realized it might be easy to create these flowers without having to buy the kit. To figure out how to make the petal design, I watched the video and paused right as she was tracing from the petal template.

The petal design looks almost like a smooth wide leaf shape with a few curved edges added to both sides. You can follow their design or create whatever petal design you like. For the petals I used our wedding stationery paper, and some green floral wire and tape I bought at the local Michael’s. I followed the directions from the video, and I liked everything about the video except when it came to adhering the petal to the wire. I think glue is kind of messy so I prefer using double sided tape and a tiny piece of paper to seal everything. The tape and the paper over the wire makes the petal more secure and it’s much easier to bend or shape the petal. Here’s my attempt without the kit:

It doesn’t look too bad, but I think I should add a little more in the center for the next set of flowers. I do like the results and the fact I saved a little money! Most likely we will be using these flowers for the candy buffet and my rehearsal bouquet.

Nice job! I have the kit, meant to make a bunch of them for the wedding, I’ve just been too tired and too busy. I did make a kit of the paper daffodils they have, which turned out quite nice. Well, maybe if I get off my a$$ before next week, I’ll have some for the wedding…

For our ceremony, we rented out a resort for our friends and families to stay with us and I have been trying to think of something cute and affordable to decorate the cabins with - I love these! I could make them for the tables, dressers, etc.
