Miscellaneous Purchases

Saturday in the bridal shop, Mom and I browsed a bit more and came across a few things left to buy:

We originally weren’t going to buy a serving set, but then this one came along–it was cheap, it was nice, and it didn’t look tacky. Regardless, me being me, I have a few things to do to it. First of all, those white bows have *got* to go. I’m also going to put one single blue Swarovski crystal on the end of each piece, and if I have time I might see about etching our monogram on the silver part between the blade and handle…maybe. But those bows are outta there!

I also wasn’t really keyed up about the garter thing. A while back I bought one for $8 at Jo-Ann’s…that’s how *little* I cared about it. But Mom convinced me I’d regret it later if I didn’t have a keep garter, so we bought this. I actually like this one quite a bit, and it’s one less last-minute DIY I’d have to do smiley102.

Hankies for the moms and grandmas. Way back when, I’d actually wanted to embroider these myself. In the early stages of planning, I looked online for nice-looking hankies that I could do–I thought that would be nicer than just doing store-bought ones. Alas, the perfect ones never came along, then I ran out of time. Yesterday while we were waiting for my dress to be ready, Mom and I were browsing and happened upon the spinning rack of hankies. The first three sides were OK, but nothing really amazing. Then on the fourth side, the blue embroidery pictured above popped out at us. Perfect! We got those for the moms, and the all-white ones for the grandmas. At some point this week I might run out to Macy’s or somewhere and look for handkerchiefs for the dads and Granddad…still not sure on that one yet.

Finally, the piece de resistance of our last-minute browsing:

Ohmygosh, did I actually just find a headband? Flippin’ YES! I’ve been *actively* searching for one since the day I bought my dress, but all of them were too plain, or too tiara-y, or too froufy, or too dated-looking, or too SOMETHING. This one is too *nothing* (except maybe too cute, and too perfect)!

And I’m sure that in the next three and a half days I’ll think of even more last-minute purchases we’ve got to make…it never ends, does it?

just a FYI– Macy’s no longer sells handkerchiefs. We went looking for them, and their answer is that they don’t sell enough so they no longer stock them.

The yellow gold of the headband will be pretty in your red hair.

That garter is so beautiful! I was planning on going without as well-but that is just pretty! Do you mind sharing what brand/designer it is?

Thanks so much!

I love your garter! I have had the most difficult time finding one I like. Can you tell me where you got it and who makes it? Thanks!
