About Mrs. Bell Pepper

William-Sonoma and Crate & Barrel should change “our registry” to “my registry” or “the bridal wishlist”. I have to be honest with you, my fiance doesn’t give a care about what’s listed on our registry. He thinks our mix and match dinnerware selection which dates back from our undergrad years is perfectly fine. Well, I did select our dinnerware set from Crate & Barrel for a reasonable price per setting. I wanted something in a white/ivory color and something that had a unique design. One of our relatives just bought us all the dinnerware sets and I’m so relieved we won’t have to be eating off of our college days dinnerware anymore!

We also got a nice suprise from my aunt yesterday, she bought us the pink Cook for the Cure Kitchenaid Mixer!

I’m just too excited about this item. I love to bake and I’m so tempted to make a cake now. A pink cake sounds nice.

My fiance hates the color pink. He says,”It’s just too feminine and it just doesn’t go with the kitchen. What about something blue like this?” whateva

So what’s on the top of your list of registry items? I’m still thinking about appliances and stuff we need for our kitchen so any ideas would be great!

Definately the Kitchenaid Mixer, the Dyson, and the Cuisinart mini prep.

Instaed of the mini-prep or with it,consider a full size food processor. There are a lot of jobs you can use it for-in many ways it can replace a blender and smaller mixer. Don’t get me wrong-I have a KitchenAid and I LOVE it-but I do evrything from grating cheese,to crushing ice, making pie dough, making pancake batter and even making some kinds of cakes in mine.
Other than that-I use my stick blender all the time-making smoothies and ice cream drinks, soups all kinds of stuff.

We got a mixer in red… red is a manly enough color, right? It’s not like my husband will ever be using it. It’s not like I’d LET him use it. Do I use his power tools? Pfft.

I’m glad I registered for… a crock pot, a toaster worth more than $30 (don’t underestimate good toast), the George Foreman grill is nice (and also red), and the expresso/coffee maker is a must for us. I’d have loved a Dyson but the mixer was my big ticket item and I didn’t even expect to get it. Don’t forget to register for a set of silverware, or a knife set. :( (I did.)

My next item that I am wishing for is a 12 cup food processor. It dices, slices, purees… it pretty much does everything! I like making homemade hummus with a processor.

My husband-apparent and I registered at Crate and Barrel mainly because they were having one of their Sunday Morning Engagements events where you get free food and a free pair of heart shaped champagne flutes. The one item we both agreed on that we had to have on our very small registry was a set of Shun knives. Our primary registry is an online honeymoon registry, but we have the Crate and Barrel registry as a backup in case someone wants to shop for a present instead.

My FI wants the Roomba pretty darn bad. Mainly because he’s the one who vacuums and well.. he’d like to just let it loose and forget about it!

I love those dishes too, but I already have vintage Fiesta. I registered for a tangerine KitchenAid mixer. That’s one thing I hope I get. Already got the cobalt KitchenAid food processor–thanks Aunt Elaine and cousin Alison! For dishes, I registered for Jasper Conran’s Chinoserie for Wedgewood. I’m not even into green very much, but I adore those dishes. My FH wants the fancy knives. I’m still totally chuffed that we’re getting any presents. I love presents!! :D

I am very excited for anything kitchen related. We’re still using old undergraduate kitchen dishes and accessories as well, and they desperately need to be updated. My fiance could care less what he eats off of or what kitchen appliances we own — as long as I have dinner on the table when he gets home from 14 hours of surgery, he’s content.

I own more kitchen stuff than I know what to do with. My suggestions?

A Panini maker. You may not one a unitasker, but if you get the right one, you can open it flat for grilling, flip the plates for a griddle, and make yummy pressed sandwiches too!

I think a full-size Cuisinart is the way to go. If you don’t want a realy big one, or are worried about space, consider the one that has an interchangeable food processor and blender top.

Also, if you don’t have good tongs– well, I don’t know how you can not! I think they’re essential for every kitchen. These are great. They lock ont he bottom for fast closing with a tap on the counter… or hip. :-) Most of OXOs products are great. I really like William Sonoma slotted spoons, etc., but I don’t think they’re on the website. They’re really sturdy.

I could go on forever. Have you seen the collapsable strainer/ collander? Folds flat! What will they think of next?!

:-)

I dunno. We got a bunch of nice dishes from our registry… and they chipped like crazy. They actually looked a lot like the ones you bought… watch out!

I wouldn’t keep them if they were all chipped. You could always return them to Crate & Barrel.

The setting is called Classic Century and I love that line. Pretty much everything by Eva Zeisel. She is amazing. I love to bake but I still haven’t used my Kitchenaid mixer. So far I’ve gotten away with just using hand mixer. Both the 12 cup food processor and mini prep is great. Made me wonder how I lived without them. By far I’d say good set of kitchen knives are essential. I have a Shun knife and it’s nice but I like Wusthof better. I’ve used Global and they are pretty nice too. But I know that a lot of people shy away from purchasing knives for wedding presents. Too darn superstitious.

Haha, my fiance and I are on the same page as you and yours when it comes to the mixer. Although, mine actually wants to get me a Hobart industrial-sized mixer because he has a massive appetite. It’s true that he has an appetite like a sumo wrestler, but I’m not sure how exactly he thinks I would COOK ten gallons of batter at once.
