About Mrs. Plum

Uh Oh

May 22nd, 2007 @ 5:24 pm by Mrs. Plum

I think I fractured a bone in my foot.

On Sunday, I was in the process of moving out my stuff to our new house and accidently dropped a very heavy lead glass 3-tealight holder on my foot - I was only wearing flip-flops. It hurt like crazy but I thought it was just a little swollen.

Well, a day later, I got this big ol’ purple bruise on my foot around the area and it’s STILL puffy - and hurts when I barely touch it.

So this is fantastic - wedding is in a month, bachelorette is next weekend, and I have dance lessons every week - if I fractured something, I can’t wear heels and look all cute (haha - yes, I’m vain). silly07

I fractured a bone in my foot (5th proximal phalanx) a couple of years ago, and it took about two months to absolutely-completely heal. I would nix the dance lessons and be as easy on your foot as possible and see how it goes for the wedding day, but be prepared to not wear heels.

sorry!

If you can’t wear heels but your gown is already hemmed for heels — maybe wear a wedge or platform that provides elevation but with less of an angle.

Can you get an x-ray and find out for sure? I’d suggest also seeing a physiotherapist once the swelling and bruising has died down a bit. By the way, arnica is awesome for healing bruising in record time. It’s a natural remedy, you can get it at a health supplement store and you can get either the kind that you spread on your skin or drops that you take with a drink.

On one of my first dates with my FI, I was horsing around and tripped over “DO NOT CROSS” police tape and sprained my foot. So embarrassing. More embarrassing? A month later as it was finally starting to heal, I FRACTURED it. Foot injuries are a biotch…try to stay off it as much as possible.

2 wks ago a can of green beans fell on my big toe at the grocery store! finally this saturday i was able to wear heels! I found a flip flop heel that where the straps didn’t touch my toe! They were hard to find actually though! Then you can still be semi cute! Your not vain, just human! :-) Of course you want to look cute! I hear ya!

Ditto about taking arnica - it got rid of my post-surgery bruising at a rapid rate- even the surgeon was shocked at how quickly I healed!

that happened to me too on my 2nd toe. sleep with your foot up on a pillow. it went away pretty quickly and i still wore heels while it was bruised (didnt feel a thing - only hurt when i touched it).
