I LOVE Stamps

May 24th, 2007 @ 10:26 am by Mrs. Raspberry

Our invitations are out, and I promise to post pictures later today or tomorrow (once people start receiving them). I am so happy with how they came out! Since designing invitations and personal stationery is what I now do full-time, the pressure was on. I went through about 5 other designs before I settled on these ones and I am so happy I did!

Other than having a love for invites and paper, I also love stamps! I started collecting them when I was about 8 and haven’t done anything with them in the past 5 years, but still love finding cool stamps. So when this LOVE stamp came out back in the mid-90s, I knew I had to have them for my wedding invitations. After much searching, I found them on eBay (of course)!

And since they were only 20c stamps, I had to use several on each invite, but they looked great!

Another option for cool stamps to fit with your theme is to order them on stamps.com. I recently had a client who really wanted to match her stamps to the designs on the inside of her wedding invitations. So, we ordered the photo ones and instead of uploading a photo, used the design below.

The post office won’t have pretty wedding stamps for awhile, so designing your own or ordering older stamps is a great option! happy09

Brilliant about buying retired stamps! There’s not nearly as much of a mark-up on them as I ever would have expected. I guess the WWW has facilitated stamp collecting immeasurably, to the point that very few stamps are really all that “rare” anymore. Very reasonable prices.

Cool idea with the LOVE stamps. Those are great! As for stamps.com - Zazzle.com is cheaper for custom stamps. I designed mine on Monday and they are due to be on my doorstep tomorrow.

I love the personalized stamp thing. Not something I was willing to spend time or money on at this point, but adorable and a great detail none the less!

FYI, the post office doesn’t mark on the custom ordered stamps (learned that when I went to ask if I could hand cancel the ones I used on my Save-the-Dates).

That’s amazing that you remembered the stamps for all those years and then that you were able to find them online when you wanted them.
